Author Ambush with Anne Marsh

Hello everyone!
LITERAL ADDICTION and Book Monster Reviews are very happy to welcome Anne Marsh back to our sites today!

Anne is a professional technical writer who found out that getting laid off could be a great thing. While she was looking for her next job, she grabbed her Mac and started writing. Quickly after, she discovered that it was uncomfortably similar to sit-ups; add a few more each day, wake up sore, but you WILL do it! Now she cranks out software manuals during the day and writes about Alpha shapeshifters the rest of the time…

Anne is the creator of the FALLEN, DAWSON BROTHERS and SMOKE JUMPERS series.

FALLEN currently consists of “Bond with Me”, “His Dark Bond”, and “Savage Bond”.

SMOKE JUMPERS has 2 set titles – “Burning Up”, which is coming to your favorite bookseller on 10/30/12, and book #2, “Slow Burn”, set to be released 3/26/13.

The DAWSON BROTHERS series has 1 book right now, “One Hot Cowboy”, which was just released on 10/4/12.

Cabe Dawson is a cowboy at heart. He’s devoted a lifetime to running Blackhawk Ranch, carving out a Northern California empire for his family. When the cattle ranch’s wells run dry, he knows what he needs to do. Foreclose on the Jordan place and drill deep for water there. It’s just business. Nothing personal.

But, as summer heats up, keeping his mind on business just might be impossible. Rose Jordan left Lonesome, California, eight years ago and never looked back. Back then, she’d challenged Cabe’s authority—and his control. Though he wanted her fiercely, she was too young. Too rebellious. Now, with Rose back in Lonesome, business is getting very, very personal. She wants to keep her home, but can Cabe convince her to keep him instead?

“Burning Up”, Book #1:

Coming 10/30/12!

 Amazon | B&N

It takes a special kind of hero to be a smoke jumper. To take the greatest risks. To live or die in the raging heat of the moment. And it takes a special kind of woman to love him. . .

Where There's Smoke. . .

For Jack Donovan, smoke jumping is a way of life. He lives for the adrenaline rush--the thrill of flying over the burning California hills, the intensity of diving straight into the inferno, the glory of taming the forces of nature. Love is a distant ember compared to the feeling he gets fighting fires--until an emergency call from his hometown brings him face to face with the one woman he can't forget. . .

There's Fire
Lily never got over the handsome rogue who once kissed her senseless--and then left. She vowed she was done with love-'em-and-leave-'em men and small town life. Until a series of malicious fires set by a stalker has her running home to hide. Now, their summer is heating up as Jack fights to save her from the stalker's fiery threats and to convince her to give the passion between them a second chance.

“Slow Burn”, Book #2:

Coming 3/26/13

The second in Anne Marsh’s pulse-pounding Smoke Jumpers series ripples with nail-biting suspense and sensuality, giving an inside look at a special brand of hero and the kind of woman it takes to win him.

It’s not every man who’ll risk his life jumping into the flames of a woodland inferno. Then again, Evan Donovan isn’t like other men. No matter how great or how treacherous the challenge, he gets the job done. But when he agrees to look in on a friend’s ex-wife after a suspicious brushfire, Evan learns that some jobs are too hot to handle…

Faye Duncan is a photographer on a mission, shooting fires for a magazine. Her first encounter with a wildfire isn’t nearly as wild as her first night with Evan Donovan. Things really heat up when Evan learns she may have taken a photo of the arsonist setting the fires. Evan is determined to keep Faye safe—but first, he’ll have to open up his heart…

Loving what you’re reading!?  We know! J  Make sure to add them and her FALLEN series to your TBR and find them from your favorite bookseller.  For now though, let’s see what Anne had to say when we let her take over the site for the day…

An enormous THANK YOU to Literal Addiction and Book Monster Reviews for having me today and for hosting a giveaway! October is a busy, busy month for me because my first contemporary titles release while, at the same time, I start a new dark paranormal series with Cajun werewolves. That makes October the best of both worlds, right?

The heroes are still alpha to the max—and sexy as all get out. One thing I found stayed fundamentally the same, though, was the sex. Sure, there’s less fur and fewer wings in my contemporaries (okay, there’s none at all—although you’ve just given me a fun idea for my next cowboy book), but places are equally important in my latest books. Where the hero and the heroine make love is every bit as important as how or when. The two of them are on an emotional and sexual journey, and my October books are all about coming home.

Jack Donovan is one sexy firefighter and it’s going to take a special woman to tame this bad boy of summer in BURNING UP. For Jack, smoke jumping is a way of life. He lives for the adrenaline rush—the thrill of flying over the burning California hills, the intensity of diving straight into the inferno, the glory of taming the forces of nature. Love is a distant ember compared to the feeling he gets fighting fires—until an emergency call from his hometown brings him face to face with the one woman he can’t forget … Lily never got over the handsome rogue who once kissed her senseless—and then left. She vowed she was done with love ’em-and-leave ’em men and small town life. Until a series of malicious fires set by a stalker has her running home to hide. Now, their summer is heating up as Jack fights to save her from the stalker’s fiery threats and to convince her to give the passion between them a second chance.
Unlike my paranormals, BURNING UP is set in small town California—and the hero and heroine spend much of their time together on the heroine’s lavender farm. It’s a book about coming home—and home is where the bedroom scenes are. Jack fought coming home; Lily, on the other hand, ran home after that traumatic encounter with a stalker who deliberately set her things on fire. Just the scent of fire is now enough to send her spiraling into bad memories. Home represents safety to Lily—and the safety to explore the sensual possibilities of Jack.
She didn’t doubt Jack would be every bit as sensually wild in bed as she’d fantasized—and this time, he wouldn’t hold back. Even more seductive was the man she was coming to know, strong and honorable, a natural-born protector who would defend her. If she let him. And, she had a sinking suspicion, even if she didn’t want him to.
He padded barefoot into her living room, wearing just a pair of sweatpants and a battered old T-shirt.
“Smell,” he coaxed, holding out a hand to her, his eyes dancing with laughter. “I even used that damned lavender soap of yours.”
“All better,” she agreed, but she didn’t come any closer. Her senses were humming, hyper-aware of him. The lush warmth of the evening air surrounded her as the day’s heat mellowed into something softer, less searing, but no easier to ignore. She burned for Jack Donovan with each breath of scented air she took.
Her commercial fields—those were lavender. The garden spilling around her porch and her front door was pure play. Lavender tangled with heirloom roses, catmint, and the odd hollyhock. A sweet explosion of scent that greeted her each morning when she opened the door, and when she left the windows open as she had tonight, the pungent scents drifted through her rooms, getting right under her skin. Right now, the heady aroma of night-blooming roses mixed with the potent scent of the man filling up her house.
He shook his head mischievously. “Not good enough.” Moving with the speed of a striking panther, he crossed the floor and wrapped his arms around her waist, swinging her off her feet.
“Jack,” she gasped, arms circling his neck reflexively.
“Now, that’s better.” He smiled down at her. Cheek to skin with him, nothing between them. Just the warm, masculine scent of him. He smelled so right. Nothing frightening about the arousal humming lazily through her.
         “I’m waiting,” he invited.
Why not? She thought fiercely. Inhaling, she pressed her cheek against the hollow of his shoulder. Let her lips rest against his skin and felt the shudder go right through him.
“Lilybell,” he growled warningly, lowering her to her feet.
“I thought you wanted to play,” she whispered.
“Dance with me.” He put a little space between them. “We haven’t ever shared a dance.” The radio was playing country music, the low, throbbing twang of the singer promising heat and heartache.
         Just like her Jack.

ONE HOT COWBOY is a little sweeter, but no less sexy. Cabe Dawson is a cowboy at heart. He’s devoted a lifetime to running his family place, Blackhawk Ranch, carving out a Northern California empire for his family. When the cattle ranch’s wells run dry, he knows what he needs to do. Foreclose on the Jordan place and drill deep for water there. It’s just business. Nothing personal. But, as summer heats up, keeping his mind on business just might be impossible. Rose Jordan left Lonesome, California, five years ago and never looked back. Back then, she’d challenged Cabe’s authority—and his control. Though he wanted her fiercely, she was too young. Too rebellious. Now, with Rose back in Lonesome, business is getting very, very personal. She wants to keep her home, but Cabe wants to convince her to keep him instead.
Cabe is a tough, no-nonsense cowboy with a steel core of honor. He knows precisely what he has to do to protect his ranch and family legacy—but it means not protecting Rose Jordan. He’s determined, sensual and a little rough around the edges. When they are reunited, after that five year absence, she’s trespassing on his ranch—and swimming naked in his swimming hole. He knows the place, and he thought he knew Rose—but their unexpected encounter has him seeing her in a whole different light.
It took just minutes to get through the fringe of cotton- wood trees ringing the swimming hole. Older than anyone now living on the ranch, those trees had seen plenty. His brothers had had a rope-and-tire swing here. They’d spent hours whooping it up, clambering into the tire, soaring out over the water, and letting go of the rope as soon as the swing was over the center of the pond where it was the deepest. That water was cold as hell, too, because it came from deep underground.

As soon as he reached the edge of the trees, his feet stopped moving; tonight’s swimmer was unexpected. He’d expected to find a few high school kids. Maybe a cooler of beer or a couple a little too busy discovering each other.
Instead, there was a woman in the water.

A damned fine, completely bare-ass naked woman.

She cut through the dark water with slow, lazy strokes. Not too tall and real damned curvy. He could see her sun-kissed skin even in the silvery moonlight. Water-slicked blond hair covered her bare shoulders and back. He should have been a gentleman, should have looked away. But damned if her swimming bare-ass naked in his swimming hole wasn’t the sexiest thing he’d ever seen.

Of course, the motivations for contemporaries and paranormals are sometimes a little different, externally speaking, although, in the end, my books are always about a man and a woman finding each other and finding love. Even in my newest paranormal, TEMPTED BY THE PACK, where Cajun werewolf Rafer Breaux fights a sensual battle to bring his fated mate home to the Louisiana bayou… His mate, Lark Andrews, wants to keep her family farm; Rafer needs to convince her to start over in the bayou with him. For Rafer, home is where his Pack is; they’re the heart and soul of his existence. The home he can offer Lark isn’t elegant and the Breaux brothers are more than a little rough around the edges, but the bayou nights heat up fast as Rafer fights to convince her, one sensual touch at a time, to give love and passion—with more than wolf—a chance. Pretty soon, Lark is realizing that home is, indeed, where the heart is.

I love the coming home stories that revolve around school antagonistics(?) find that they have chemistry and need to resolve past feelings to try to make a relationship together. Example is like a woman returns to her hometown and finds herself attracted to the man who growing up embarrassed her or humiliated her and both need to overcome the past.

Awesome post!

I like reunion romances! They're lots of fun, especially if there was a big misunderstanding.

I have two that I really enjoy reading. Enemies to lovers and the Younger sibling of a friend finally getting together with their older brother/sister friend when they are all grown up ;)

Mmmmm.....I like the coming home stories where either the hero or heroine was the 'ugly' duckling, awkward, shy and though they are no longer that gawky person, still underestimate their impact on people. And the person who finds that they are now drawn to them, was the one who had it all, and lost it all, and the proverial 'lightbulb' goes off in their head. ;)

My favorite kind of "coming home" stories are romantic suspense novels that feature military heroes who "come home" after a harsh journey.

I love coming homes stories. One that comes to mind is Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series. The series starts off with the three sisters all coming to Lucky Harbor after their mothers death. Even though they never lived there together it is still a coming home story to me.

Don't have any favorites.

A favorite coming home story is where the main character has returned home to a small town after leaving for the big city life years before and runs into the one they left behind and sparks fly. I especially enjoy a military veteran returning home.
A couple I enjoyed recently were Dancing in the Moonlight by RaeAnne Thayne and Because of You by Jessica Scott.

Probably to come home for some sort of closure and to find out that the love of your life(the one you left town for)is still there and that person tries to win you back.

Those stories would be the ones that involve men who come back from the militia or overseas. They always get to me. sdylion(at)gmail(dot)com

I like the reunion stories where there was a "misunderstanding" but it proves to be unfounded..

I love the reunion/coming home stories, where an event tears the lovers apart, or one thinks the other is dead, and they find each other in the future. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
