Interview & Giveaway with Delilah Marvelle

Delilah Marvelle Intro

Hello Book Monsters and Literal Addicts! Book Monster Reviews and LITERAL ADDICTION are very excited to welcome the incredible Delilah Marvelle to the site today.

Delilah Marvelle spent her youth studying various languages, reading voraciously and playing the pianoforte. She confesses that here ends the extent of her gentle breeding. She was a naughty child who was forever torturing her parents with countless adventures that they did not deem respectable. Confined to her room on many occasions due to these misadventures, she discovered the quill and its amazing power. Soon, to the dismay of her parents, she rather enjoyed being confined to her room and finished writing her first historical romance (which was a heart-stopping 800 pages long…) at the age of fourteen. She is a two time Golden Heart finalist and the winner of The Reviewer's Choice Award for Best Sensual HIstorical Romance of the Year.  You can visit her at her website at http://www.DelilahMarvelle.com or her blog, which explores the naughtier side of history, at www.DelilahMarvelle.blogspot.com.

You can also find Delilah on Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads

Delilah is the creator of many great historical romance novels and series including her SCANDAL, SCHOOL OF GALLANTRY AND THE RUMOR series.

Today we are helping Delilah promote the newest release in THE RUMOR series so we are going to post the synopsis for the books in the series to get you more familiar with the series.

Forever Mine
RUMOR series - PREQUEL

Love can open your eyes...

Lady Augustine Jane Ascott longs for a man who will do more than offer on her hand in marriage.  She wants a husband she can trust, someone who will shield her from the darkness of the world.  Her heart was broken when her younger brother was kidnapped years earlier, and she still carries the pain of his loss.
When the handsome Duke of Wentworth makes his feelings for her known, Augustine's past demons warn her away.  Besides, every woman in London knows he's devoted to the memory of his late wife.  But is it possible he cares for her after all -- and that their love can bring them the peace they both crave?
READER PLEASE NOTE:
Bonus Chapters from FOREVER MINE that were not included in this Prequel Novella are available for free download.  Click HERE to download them.  These two bonus chapters are the untold story of what happened to Nathaniel from Augustine's point of view.  While the publisher opted not to include the two chapters in FOREVER MINE, due to its dark nature, I feel this story and the entire series is incomplete without them.  These two chapters, in my opinion, are critical in understanding Nathaniel's story whom the entire series is based on.

Forever And A Day
RUMOR series, Book 1

Rumor Has it…

Some memories really are unforgettable...

Roderick Gideon Tremayne, the recently appointed Duke of Wentworth, never expected to find himself in New York City, tracking down a mysterious map important to his late mother. And he certainly never expected to be injured, only to wake up with no memory of who he is. But when he sees the fiery-haired beauty who's taken it upon herself to rescue him, suddenly his memory is the last thing on his mind.
Georgia Milton, the young head of New York's notorious Forty Thieves, feels responsible for the man who was trying to save her reticule from a thief.  But she's not prepared for the fierce passion he ignites within her.  When his memory begins to return, her whole world is threatened, and Roderick must choose between the life he forgot and the life he never knew existed...

Forever A Lady
RUMOR series, Book 2
Purchase Links:

Rumor has it we are closer to the truth...

Two different classes, One common desire...

Bernadette Marie Burton may be the richest widow in England, but like her dreams of finding true passion, her reputation is deteriorating.  Cruel gossip, loneliness and hoards of opportunistic suitors have her believing Society couldn't be more vile....or dangerous.  So when an attacker threatens her life, she finds safety in the most unseemly of places: the arms of a mysterious, Irish-American gang leader.

His fortune stolen, young Matthew Joseph Milton is done playing the respectable gentleman.  In the slums of New York, only ruffians thrive.  But from the moment he arrives in London and encounters the volumptious Lady Bernadette, he  can't help but wonder about the finer pleasures he's missing.  Or just how much he's willing to risk -- not only to bed her, but  to prove his worth...

They sound incredible don't they!?  Before you run off to start adding them to your TBR list or buying them from your favorite bookseller, let's get started on the interview so we can learn more about incredible author behind these amazing books….

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Hi Delilah!  Welcome to Book Monster and LITERAL ADDICTION.   Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat with us today.  We’re so happy to have you with us!

DELILAH:  I’m so thrilled to be here!  Thank you!

Q1):   Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we can't find out on the internet, in your bio, etc?

DELILAH:  1.) I hate buttermilk.  When I was six years old, I had this babysitter who would force me drink it at every single meal.  I didn’t like it to begin with and her forcing me to drink it only made me permanently build a gag reflex I have to this day.  I kid you not, I can’t even smell buttermilk without wanting to puke.  2.) I was a tomboy and hung out with the boys up until I was 14.  I even had a butch haircut and wouldn’t be caught dead in a dress.  Until I started liking said boys, that is, and well…I had to say good-bye to my tomboy persona and hello to long hair and dresses, lol.  3.)  I’m scared of the dark.  When my husband isn’t home at night, whether he’s traveling or with the fire department, I have the kids sleep with me, lol.  Seriously.  My over-active imagination has a lot to do with it.  And the fact that I believe in ghosts...

2)  How old where you when you first realized you wanted to be a writer?  Was there anyone or anything in particular that inspired you?

DELILAH:  I was about eight (give or take a year) when I realized I wanted to be a writer.  While many things inspired me (reading books, for instance), it’s life itself that really inspired me to write.  The more I experienced, both good and bad, the more I had to write.  I was a big romantic at heart, even at eight, and so my stories, even when I was younger, always had some sort of romance in it, lol.

3)  Do you have any interesting writing quirks or things that you must have with you to begin the writing process?

DELILAH:  The one thing that I have to have when writing is complete silence.  Which usually means I have to kick everyone out of the house to write.  I can’t step into a historical world or mind frame when I have the modern world knocking on my door every few minutes.  So I turn off the phones, the internet and kick people out in order to do it.  As for a writing quirk?  Hoo-boy.  Yes.  I have one big writing quirk.  As I’m typing my stories, I voice them aloud in a British accent to make it feel authentic and real.  It immerses me in the world I’m creating, which is why I have to usually kick everyone out of the house. Because it’s really weird trying to talk aloud in a British accent as I’m writing.  ESPECIALLY during a love scene, lol.

4)  What are some of your hobbies, or things that you enjoy doing when you’re not writing or taking care of other author business?

DELILAH:  I do a lot of running, hiking, reading, traveling, cooking (I went to culinary school and so I always go crazy!) and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to spend as much time with my family and friends as possible.  I do so much writing, that when I’m not writing, I just try to enjoy everything and anything in life.

5)  Do you have a personal favorite book among those you have written so far?  Maybe one that holds special meaning for you, etc?

DELILAH:  I definitely have a favorite book.  THE PERFECT SCANDAL, which is book 3 in the Scandal Series.  THE PERFECT SCANDAL digs into my Polish heritage and everything I ever learned about my culture whilst digging into some personal issues I dealt with regarding family secrets.  It’s the book of my heart and will always be my favorite.

6)  What are some of your favorite TV shows and movies?

DELILAH: My favorite movies are Amelie, White, Memento, Perfume and Secretary.  I love movies that give me a twisted new world that awes me.  I’m currently obsessed with Downton Abbey and am anxiously waiting for Season three.  I’m also just getting into Game of Thrones.  OMG.

7)  You seem to really be inspired by historical romance.  What is it about this genre that you love so much?

DELILAH:  I have always felt like I was born in the wrong era.  History calls to me and is a world I love exploring.  It’s a time when social etiquette was everything and a woman had to fight to define herself.  Gowns, dukes and history.  It has love story written all over it, lol.

8)  Do you plan to ever venture out into another genre or are you happy to keep writing historical romance novels?

DELILAH:  I’m too in love with historical romance to ever venture into another genre.  There is just far too much to explore and still so many different stories to write within my genre.

10)  Can you please tell us what the premise for THE RUMOR series is all about?

DELILAH:  All the books are connected by the disappearance of a 10 year old aristocratic boy.  A boy who disappeared into New York City and was never heard from again.  Until 30 years later.  All the stories weave together to give the big scope of all the people who are intricately bound to our missing heir in different ways.

11)  So far THE RUMOR series has 2 full length novels and one prequel novella. What's coming up next in this series?

DELILAH:  The last book in the series, FOREVER A LORD, will feature the story of the missing heir who disappeared 30 years earlier and what became of him and who he is now ( bareknuckle boxer).  The story is about fighting for what you believe in (quite literally) and forgiving not only those who have wronged you but forgiving yourself for being unable to rise above being wronged.

12)   Can you please tell us about your SCANDAL and SCHOOL OF GALLANTRY series?  Are you planning to write any more books in these series?

DELILAH:  The Scandal series is all about Scandal.  Not the sort of scandal that would make someone blush, but rather the sort of scandal that would make someone’s mouth drop open.  In historical romance, the word ‘scandal’ is overused to the point of diluting the poor word, so I decided to give the word some substance.  In each book, we are introduced to difference forms of social scandal.  From a hero, who is a recovering sex addict, to another hero who is a male prostitute, to the last hero who is cutter, all set within the context of history.  I absolutely loved exploring all of the aspects of what defines real scandal.

In the School of Gallantry series, I introduce a very tongue and cheek set of books.  The series is about a retired, elderly French courtesan who opens an school for aristocratic men to educate them in the art of love and seduction.  The series features 5 men who were stupid enough to sign up, lol, and for all the wrong reasons.  I’ll be finishing the series next year.

13)  What has been the most rewarding experience of your career so far?

DELILAH:  Being able to meet people I normally wouldn’t meet thanks to my writing.  It’s the most amazing thing in the world to know someone I wouldn’t have met picks up my book and becomes a part of my world.  My fans are amazing.

14)  What legacy do you hope to leave your readers with?

DELILAH:  That my readers will never know what to expect from me.  I don’t ever want my readers to pick up a book and think they know what they’re going to get.  I’m all about gifting them with the element of surprise.

15)  Is there anything specific you would like to say to the readers or anything you would like to share with us while we have you here today?

DELILAH:  I would love to say THANK YOU to all of my readers.  They are the reason I continue to write.  Each and every day I am grateful for all the emails and the love I get to glory in.  THANK YOU.

I just wanted to leave a shout out to Delilah. I met her at a book signing at a small used bookstore. She was so warm and easy to talk to and we had a blast sitting together chatting about books and life. She is warm and engaging and has the hottest fireman husband ladies ;-)

I have loved reading Deliah's books from the beginning! I even joined her minions. :-) . She is warm and funny, I think she would have fit in into another era quite easily. Keep writing those books! I will be there to buy the first release. Thanks for taking me away from my ....stressful life you make me forget for awhile!

I love Delilah's books. I love that when I pick up your books, I know I will be reading something that is always fresh and addictive to read. I had to wait until two days ago to read Forever and a Lady because of my husbnad's schedule. I knew if I attempted to read it while he was at home I would wind up wanting to yell or growl at him to leave me alone while I'm reading. I loved the book and impatiently waiting for Forever a Lord.

I love Delilah's books! I am a major fan of her books since the first one I read (the first of the Scandal series). And I am so glad that she is continuing the School series (I have the first 2 but will probably wait til closer to the release for #3 before reading them).

If you've heard the "gossip" Delilah's books aren't to be missed!

Scandal hooked me and has kept me reading anything she releases and now she taking an American to England and I can't wait to find out what's coming next!

Delilah - Gossip has it that anyone who hasn't read your books should get themselves to a book store!

My dearest Glittergirl,
So awesome to get a shout out from the gal who hung out with me when I was bored out of my mind, lol. And whoo-hoo about my husband. I agree and thank you, lol!!!

My dearest Debra,
Yay for my marvelous minions! Thank you for being a supporter. I wouldn't be where I'm at if it wasn't for incredible people like you. Thank you!!!

My dearest Ora,
No growling at the husband, lol. I don't want him connecting me to growling unless it's you getting ideas to tug him off to the side, lol. Thank you for being my cheerleader! And I'm so thrilled you're excited to read FOREVER A LORD.

My dearest June,
Thank you for the love. It means so much to me! Personally, I'm with you. I always like to wait to read all the books at once in a series so I don't have to step out of that world :)

My dearest Jeanne,
Sounds like you're up on the latest gossip, lol. Thank you for being such a sweetheart and a supporter!

My dearest Joy,
I had a blast writing them. Thank you for posting and good luck!
