Don't they sound incredible?!  Now that we’ve got your interest peaked, let’s find out some more about the author behind these incredible books, shall we!?

Book Monster Reviews/ LITERAL ADDICTION:  Hi Dee!  Welcome to Book Monster and LITERAL ADDICTION!  We’re very happy to have you here today!

DEE:    Delighted to be here!

Book Monster Reviews/ LITERAL ADDICTION:  We like to start out by finding out a bit more about our guest author, and then we’ll dig into the books…

Q1): Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we can't find out on the Internet?

DEE:    Wow!  Well,  I once worked with the Sea Grant Program which was working to save the sea turtles on Padre Island.  I once got locked out of a hotel in Europe and my friend crawled into my window to let me in—it was the wrong window.  And I bought tortillas in Austria from a man named Gunter Gonzales in the basement of an apartment building somewhere in the depths of Vienna.  Best. Tortillas.  Ever.

Q2):  Did anyone or anything in particular inspire you to become an author?

DEE:    I’ve always loved reading and a blank page is like a siren call for me.  But probably the author Mary Stewart did the most to inspire me.  Her books are so evacotive of the places she wrote about.  You can literally see and feel and smell them.  Airs Above the Ground took me to Vienna.  My Brother Michael to Greece and Stormy Petral to the islands off the coast of Scotland.  She’s an amazing writer.  And I wanted to try and do the same.

Q3):  What has been the biggest surprise with regards to your writing career to-date?

DEE:    How much of it is spent not writing.  Editing, promoting, marketing, plotting etc…

Q4):  What are some of your hobbies or things that you enjoy doing when you’re not working, writing or taking care of other business?

DEE:    I love to cook.  And eat in great restaurants (five star and dives alike).  And therefore I also excel in dieting. J  I love to travel and explore new places.  I love learning new things.  And I’m still a voracious reader!

Q5):  If you could describe yourself in 5 words, what would they be?

DEE:   Optimistic, introspective, funny, loyal, spacey

Q6):  Who are some of your favorite authors, and what’s in your TBR pile right now?

DEE:    I already mentioned Mary Stewart.  Susannah Kearsley, Barbara Samuel/O’neal, Michael Crichton, Robert Ludlum, C.S. Lewis—just to name a few.  On my TBR: A new Ludlum, written by his best friend, Roxanne St. Claire’s Barefoot in the Sand, and A Moveable Feast-Hemingway (the latter I want to reread).

Q7):  What are some of the qualities you feel that all heroes or heroines should have?

DEE:    Humor, honor, intelligence

Q8):  What are the best and worst parts of writing for you?

DEE:    Best is the beginning of a novel, when the pages are still blank and anything is possible.  And the end of a novel, when I finally manage to wrangle everyone to the final moments of the story.  Worst is probably—and predictably—the middle when I usually just want to blow everyone up and be done with it.

Q9):  If you could spend the day with one of your characters, which would it be, and what would you want to do?

DEE:    Interesting question.  Hannah Marshall popped into my mind immediately (A-Tac’s intel officer).  She’s just so much fun. And quirky.  And interesting.  I suspect hanging out with her for a day would be fabulous.  On the sexier side of the equation though, wouldn’t mind spending a day with Avery Solomon (A-Tac’s commander).  Maybe exploring a favorite city –like Prague.

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  O.K, now we’ll ask some questions directly related to your books and series …  J

Q10):  For readers that are new to your books, can you please tell us a little about A-Tac, your popular romantic suspense series?

DEE:  A-Tac is an elite CIA unit working deep undercover as faculty at an Ivy League college in upstate New York.  Brilliant, badass, and seemingly bulletproof, the members of A-Tac are assigned to the riskiest missions and the most elusive targets.

Q11):  Was there any specific inspiration that lead to the concept and creation of the  A-Tac series?

DEE:  I was thinking about my brother-in-law, who is an English teacher at a private school, and wondering what it would be like if I discovered he had a secret life—like as a spy.  From there (fueled by cocktails with a friend) A-Tac was conceived.

Q12):  What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, logistical, etc) in bringing the A-Tac series to life?

DEE:    Doing my homework. I have to make sure I understand the logistics of both the places I write about and the things that my characters are involved with.  I have to understand trajectory, how a bomb works, blast ratio, the internal mind of a serial killer, the workings of international arms dealers, the Colombian jungle, Ancient ruins, car crashes, T.S. Eliot, Mayanmar and the Mekong River (for my newest A-Tac novel) just to name a few...  So lots of research into some very interesting stuff. I do so want to get it right.  But sometimes, for the sake of the sake of the story, I do have to work really hard to find something that is both plausable and dovetails into the plot in the way that I need it to.

Q13):  Do you have any other projects coming up that you can share with us?

DEE:    Double Danger, the sixth A-Tac book (Simon’s story) is coming out this December.  And I’m about to start work on Avery’s story—the last A-Tac novel (although never say never).

Q14):  Is there anything specific you would like to say to your readers, or info that you'd like to share with us, while we have you here today?

DEE:    Just that I so appreciate all the people who read my books.  Just the idea that I have been able to transport someone into a world filled with people who live in my head… well, it’s truly magical.  And I pinch myself often, to prove that it’s really true!!!

Book Monster Reviews/ LITERAL ADDICTION:  Dee, thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to be with us today!  We’d love to have you back to help promote your next release if you’re interested…

DEE:    I’m always up for visiting with you guys!  So, until next time!

I love Paranormal Romance! I love all romance really. I also love a good Murder Mystery. I live in a dinky town that's spread out. Good luck finding a bookstore! The closest we have is a book section in the ONLY grocery store. The Library here is pretty antiquated. I ask for books, but they say that they are not appropriate. Pbhhht! I find used books at the thrift store, but few and far between. Thank God for my Kindle and Amazon!
