Hello everyone! Book Monster Reviews and LITERAL ADDICTION are very proud to welcome the incredible Laura Wright back to our sites today!

Laura Wright (AKA - Writer Lady) is the creator of the phenomenal MARK OF THE VAMPIRE (MOTV) series, as well as, some great standalone novels (for a complete list of Laura’s standalone romance titles click HERE). In case you’re not familiar with Laura yet, here’s the bio from her website that we borrowed so you can learn some more about her:

Laura’s Bio:

“I was born and raised in Minnesota. It’s where my love of all things green, wet and grown in the ground comes from. As you read above, before writing I was an actor, singer and dancer, specifically a BALLROOM dancer - an instructor and competitor as well. That work took me to many places like New York, Ohio and Wisconsin. I live in Los Angeles now, but I’m always thinking about greener pastures – literally.

Unlike many of my peers in the writing world, I wasn’t a writer or a reader until I left high school. During my youth I was into theater, song and dance, commercials and boys. I loved romance surely, but I had never read a romance novel until my late teens. With that said, I remember the day I did like it was a moment ago - my aunt gave me the Jude Deveraux novel, Knight in Shining Armor and I couldn’t put it down until the very last word. Then I went straight to the library and got another – then another until I’d read everything she’d ever written. After that, it was McNaught, Howard, Schone, Kleypas, and the Silhouette line, Desire. I instantly loved those emotional, sexy reads, so much so that I began to carve out ideas for my own stories, themes that were unique to me and moved me. In 1997 I enrolled in UCLA extension writing classes, met my mentor and critique partners and since have never stopped writing. I was committed then and I still am now; the need to tell my own romantic stories a full on obsession. My first manuscript was rejected, and though the second one was as well the editor who’d rejected it wanted to see something else from me. I had something (note to authors; always keep working, even after you’ve sent in a proposal) and sent it right away. The day I got the call telling me Desire wanted to buy Cinderella and the Playboy was the best day of my life. That is until I married my husband, and had my two beautiful children. But I must say, writing is much like motherhood – tough, grueling, surprising, delicious and for me, a dream come true.”

As most of you already know, Chelle and I are HUGE fan girls of Laura and her MOTV series. If you have not yet read this series, we highly suggest that you do. Laura created an original and creative spin on the vampire world and every book grabs you from the beginning and leaves you counting down the days until the next release. For those of you that have not read the series yet, or are new to Laura’s work, we have posted all the books below in reading order plus the synopses to all of the books in the series.

CHARACTER INTERVIEW

I walk the beach, sand in my toes, a tall, almost intimidatingly handsome Impure vampire at my side. Gray Donohue, leader of the Impure Resistance, is scary handsome, with shoulders as wide as his pureblooded brother-in-law, and if I may say – even more raw sexuality. I don’t know how Dillon manages to keep her hands.. well, her paws off of him.

He gives me a smile and insists on remaining at my right, ready to save me from a wayward wave… or maybe his veana, if she ever shows up.

WRITER LADY: Your story is about to be released, Gray. How do you feel? I know it was a pretty private thing for you.

GRAY: <He stares straight ahead> It’s the way of my life, it seems.

WRITER LADY: What do you mean?

GRAY: Having my insides bared. It has become commonplace.

WRITER LADY: <He doesn’t sound sad exactly, more resolute> You could have walked away from it all, Gray. After you got out of the hospital, got your memory back, you could’ve run, hidden, kept your insides under lock and key.

GRAY: <He glances my way, his gun-metal eyes fiercely playful> I didn’t say I was forced to bare my insides, Writer Lady. <He grins> It was always a choice. One I felt compelled to make. My kind, the Impures, they needed someone to speak for them.

WRITER LADY: Why do you think it was you, Gray?

GRAY: I believe it is because I didn’t grow up among them. I didn’t see myself as less-then, a slave to a higher being. <He turns to glance out at the water, waves as tall as a house.> Granted, after the fire I knew madness and self loathing, but it was from one incident, not a long held belief. When I got to them, when I was in the Paleo for the first time, I saw who they believed themselves to be.

WRITER LADY: <I stop. Curious.> And who is that?

GRAY: <He stops as well, faces me.> Worthless.

WRITER LADY: <This hurts my heart, and I feel immense pride in this male.> I think you did a great thing, and I believe you’ll be a strong leader.

GRAY: <He grins down at me. He’s so beautiful I melt.> I appreciate that. I need every vote of confidence I can get.

WRITER LADY: Everyone believes in you, Gray.

GRAY: Not everyone.

WRITER LADY:  <I smile to myself> She believes in you. That was never the problem. She just didn’t believe in herself.

GRAY: <He snorts, kicks the sand with his boot> She’s a pain in my ass.

WRITER LADY: <I laugh> Maybe. But you really dig that ass. Don’t deny it.

<He growls. It’s a low, sexy sound and I shiver. Dillon is so freaking lucky.>

As if our discussion has summoned her, a roar sounds over the crash of the waves. We both turn to see a blond, beautiful jaguar tearing down the beach. Head down, fierce expression, she moves like the wind, sand kicking up behind her. She comes to a halt on my left side, no breath lost and tosses me a touch-him-and-get-eaten glare.

WRITER LADY: Hi, D. <I try and pretend I’m not shaking inside. It’s not easy. >

DILLON: <She sneers> Human who writes the private thoughts and shit of others.

Oh dear.

GRAY: <Laughs> What were you saying about liking that ass, Writer Lady?

DILLON: <Whirls on me, her growl is horrifying.> You told him you like his ass? Are you trying to become my dinner, Human?

WRITER LADY: <I think I just had a mini stoke. Time to go home. Away from vampires, fangs, claws, jaws…whatever can remove the blood from my body quickly and painfully.> 

DILLON: Speak Human!

WRITER LADY: You two have a good night. I’m going to head back.

I turn abruptly and start walking in the opposite direction, hoping Dillon doesn’t follow. Thank goodness she stays with Gray, but even over the waves I can hear them bickering.

GRAY: That human writes our stories, D. Do you want a goddamn happy ending or not?

DILLON: If you let her touch your ass, I’ll never give you another happy ending again!

GRAY: <Chuckles> Don’t threaten me with something you know you can’t follow through on, Baby. You’ve been on your knees twice today.

DILLON: No, YOU’VE been on your knees twice today. <She softens> I was only down there once.

TMI! TMI!

 <I cover my ears as I run down the length of beach, my eyes searching for the way out of the Impure credenti…>
