Her Forbidden Hero

You always want what you can't have...

She's always been off-limits...

Former Army Special Forces Sgt. Marco Vieri has never thought of Alyssa Scott as more than his best friend's little sister, but her return home changes that...and challenges him to keep his war-borne demons at bay. Marco's not the same person he was back when he protected Alyssa from her abusive father, and he's not about to let her see the mess he's become.

...but now she's all grown up.

When Alyssa takes a job at the bar where Marco works, her carefree smiles wreak havoc on his resolve to bury his feelings. How can he protect her when he can't stop thinking about her in his bed? But Alyssa's not looking for protection--not anymore. Now that she's back in his life, she's determined to heal her forbidden hero, one touch at a time...

Carla's Review:
Alyssa Scott has come back to her hometown in hopes of starting a new future and putting down some roots.  She's also looking forward to seeing Marco Vieri again.  Alyssa has always had a crush of her older brothers best friend.  But when she finally gets to see Marco again, she realizes he's not the man he used to be and aches to help him overcome his inner demons.

When Marco his finds out his best friends little sister is now going to be working at the bar he works in, he's not happy about it.  He feels Alyssa is too naïve and good to deal with drunk guys hitting on her and that he'll have to protect her all the time.  Then Marco realizes that he's not the only one that has changed.  Alyssa is all grown up now and he finds himself wanting much more than to be just friends.

There hasn't been a story yet that Laura Kaye has written that I did not like and this certainly wasn't one either.  I loved Marco & Alyssa.  The story flowed smoothly and was not rushed at all.   When Marco finally gives in to his feelings for Alyssa, they are explosive together.   I recommend this book to anyone who loves contemporary romance.

I give HER FORBIDDEN HERO  5 out of 5 Hearts.

I really enjoyed this book. Her Forbidden Hero is a stand alone title, so there is not too much set-up or background. Her Forbidden Hero is a fully-developed, well-rounded story that drew me in from the start and left me satisfied and pleased after I finished the last page. Laura Kaye does an excellent job developing her characters and endearing them to the reader. I felt for Marco, he had been through trauma while in the Special Forces and his sense of worth was suffering. Alyssa is a woman who has learned to become independent, but she missed having her friend Marco around. Alyssa and Marco have a very special relationship, their relationship is based on a long-standing, solid friendship. Now that years have passed and both characters have gained life experience and grown up, their friendship turns into something more, their connection is magnetic.
