Interview & Contest with Maeve Greyson

Maeve Greyson Interview

TGIF Monsters and Addicts!  Book Monster Reviews and LITERAL ADDICTION are very pleased to welcome author Maeve Greyson to our sites today.

Maeve has a great bio on her website so we borrowed it and posted it below you so can get to know her a little better.

ABOUT MAEVE:
I'm Maeve Greyson, paranormal romance writer from Western Kentucky. The stories I write are filled with magic and love, where anything might happen to get to that happily ever after.

I've been a dreamer all my life but never shared my stories until my mother's failing health demanded she become a heart transplant recipient. Her resulting journey terrified and over-whelmed her. My stories helped her escape.

She's been gone for a while now. But the joy of releasing my dreams to the page remains. Many of my stories are filled with the mysteries of time-travel and legends, all with a Celtic flair. Scotland and Ireland sing to my soul. In a past life, I'm certain I was there.

Pictured below, meet my writing partner, Jasper. Under his supervision and the loving support of my husband of over thirty years, I hideaway in our secluded wood and listen to the whispers of my dreams.

INSERT DOG PIC HERE (My reminder, Not for you Maeve J)

Maeve is the creator of the new paranormal romance novel "Eternity's Mark", and "The Highlander's Fury" which were both just released in February, as well as "Beyond A Highland Whisper".  If you are not yet familiar with Maeve's books, we've posted the synopses below for you to check out:

"Eternity's Mark"
Publisher:  Kensington Brava
Publication Date:  February 28, 2012
BUY NOW:

A sexy Scot. A mystical inheritance. What could go wrong?

Veterinarian Hannah MacPherson knows better than to believe in love at first - or any - sight. True, being swept away by Taggart de Gaelson to the vast Scottish castle she's mysteriously inherited is uber-romantic. The legacy is totally legitimate, and its messenger is big, broad-shouldered, and smokin' in more ways than one...

Too bad Taggart forgot to mention that Hannah's also a Guardian of magical dragons called the Draecna. And as Hannah's sworn otherworldly protector, Taggart is honor-bound not to lay a hand on her, no matter how close he gets...

But turning duty into pleasure is just too tempting. And for Hannah, mastering her powers and saving two worlds from evil will be way easier than showing one hardheaded warrior that breaking all the rules means they are eternally made for each other...

"The Highlander's Fury"
Publisher:  The Wild Rose Press
Publication Date:  February 26, 2012
BUY NOW:

An average day in the life of an immortal fury: flex powers, locate evil, administer justice. Until Ciara’s goddess mothers convince her to seduce a brooding mortal and bear the man a gifted child. All she has to do is swap places with his betrothed. The task is simplebecome the seductive wife, bear the man a child and train the young one in the Ways. Once the boy reaches seven years of age, they’ll swap her back with the wife he thinks he selected and Ciara can resume her job of rousting wickedness from the world.

Faolan MacKay’s advisors plague him daily about his matrimonial duties as laird, dragging prospects from across the Highlands: plump dowries attached to each one. Faolan’s lost everyone he’s ever loved. He’d rather go straight to the fiery pits of Hell than down the wedding aisle. Out of desperation, his plan takes seed. He’ll select a wife he can ignore. There’s just one problem with this foolproof theory. Nobody ignores Ciara. Against his better judgment, he’s enthralled with the woman and to Ciara’s surprise, this strange thing called love burns hotter than her hunger for vengeance.

At the end of the seven years the ruse is up, all will return to as it was. Can the bond of love overcome the mandate of the ultimate powers?

"Beyond A Highland Whisper"
Publisher:  The Wild Rose Press
Publication Date:  November 29, 2011
BUY NOW:

Can love prevail over the dark magic of a woman scorned?

The last time Latharn MacKay walked among his kinsman was in Scotland of 1410. Sensuous and charismatic, all the women wanted him, but none could capture his heart. Latharn's charm became his curse when a dark sorceress didn’t take rejection well. She snared his soul into a crystal globe until the one woman destined to be his love whispered his release. Now all Latharn has to do is find her and guide her to him without speaking a word.

One of the youngest archeologists in St Louis of 2010, Nessa credits one thing for this achievement: the recurring dream of a heart-stopping Highlander since the summer she turned eighteen years old. Little does she know, he's not some fantasy cooked up by her subconscious. He’s a trapped soul determined for Nessa to end his six centuries in hell.

They sound great don't they?  Before you run off to start ordering the books, check out our interview with Maeve to find out what's coming up next.

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Hi Maeve!  Welcome to Book Monster and LITERAL ADDICTION  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to drop by and spend some time with us!  We’re so happy to have you with us today!

Maeve: Thanks so much for inviting me. I’m thrilled to be here.

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  We always like to start out by getting to know you a little bit better.

Q1):   Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we can't find out on the internet, in your bio, etc?

Maeve: Three things? Hmm…let’s see.
1)  I’m a firm believer in “meant to be” love. The first time I came face to face with my husband, something clicked. I knew he was the man I would marry. On our second date, a determined look settled across his face and he said, “You need to marry me.” We’d known each other a grand total of three months when we married and everyone told us we were crazy. Told us we’d never last. Crazy? Definitely. But thirty-three years later, we’re still cozy in our own little asylum.
2)  While living in Guam, my darling husband tricked me into eating fruit bat and dried squid. The rascal convinced me it was chicken and sun dried peppers. I must admit it wasn’t half bad –until I discovered the truth. Yep. I scored a very nice bracelet from that little incident. Hubby always apologizes with jewelry.
3)  And last but not least: Whenever I’m undecided about something, I consult my Celtic Tarot cards. I’m not always happy with what they tell me but I’ve found they invariably tell me the truth.

2)  What are some other hobbies and interests you like to do when you're not writing?

Maeve: I enjoy attempting to capture all the wildlife in our area with my camera. Camping with hubby and Jasper.  And pretty much anything that involves disappearing into nature.

3)  Do you have any interesting writing quirks or things you must have with you to begin your writing process?

Maeve: Gotta have my coffee and MUST be wearing some sort of amethyst or at least have my chunk of raw amethyst nearby. Amethyst is my birthstone and it also helps me relax and focus.

4)  How long did it take you to get your first book published?

Maeve: Seems like it was about five years before Beyond a Highland Whisper landed with The Wild Rose Press. I’d queried several agents to no avail until one particular rejection email told me that I should send my story to a small press. Bless that agent’s kind heart because that’s how Beyond a Highland Whisper found The Wild Rose Press and I was welcomed into a wonderfully supportive publishing family.

5)  Who are some of your favorite authors and series?

Maeve: That’s always such a tough question because there are so many wonderful writers. My iPad is full of ebooks and I’ve got two walls of books in my office. I highly recommend Beth Trissel and S.G. Rogers for reads that will help you escape the stresses of real life. My favorite series? Jean M. Auel’s Clan of the Cave Bear series, Edgar Rice Burroughs Barsoom novels (John Carter series), Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander series and last but far from least would be Diana Gabaldon’s time travel series with Jamie and Claire.

6)  If you could have any one super power, which power would you want to have and why that power?

Maeve: The ability to understand and communicate with animals. Jasper suffered a stroke a few months ago and I felt so helpless I wanted to scream. He’d look up at me with those trusting brown eyes and all I could do was hold him and beg him not to die. Thankfully, we got him to the vet and he’s almost completely recovered. If I could’ve “heard” him and found the words to ease his fear, things would’ve been so much easier.

7)  Can you please tell us some more detailed information about your newest release "Eternity's Mark"?

Maeve: A widow unable to move past her grief, Hannah’s determined to live out the rest of her life isolated on her mountain with a bevy of animals. Since both her mother and grandmother died when she was very young, Hannah doesn’t know she’s the last surviving guardian to a magical race of dragons. It’s Taggart’s duty to introduce her to her mystical heritage and protect her from those who seek to destroy her –without losing his heart in the process. After all, Hannah is forbidden to him and would be horrified if she faced the inner beast Taggart hides from the world.

8) Is "Eternity's Mark" the first book in a new series?

Maeve: Eternity’s Mark is a stand alone…but that’s not to say there isn’t something cooking on the writerly burner.

9)  What's next for Maeve Greyson?  What do you have planned in the upcoming months?

Maeve: *big grin* Refer to the writerly burner mentioned above. I’m well into the first book of a four book series involving powerful new beasties, new worlds, and of course, my beloved Scotland. And in the next few weeks, I hope to have some other exciting news to share.

10)  Is there anything specific you would like to say to your readers?

Maeve: I’d like to thank them. When I decided to release my stories into the world, I never realized how many wonderful people I’d meet along this path. Readers are awesome, full of energy and keep my writerly batteries charged.

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Thank you so much Maeve for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and talk to us.  We would love to have you back with us again when you're ready to promote your next book.
Maeve: It’s been wonderful chatting with you today and I loved being here! Thank you again and I’ll be more than happy to return when I launch another “baby” into the world.

If you'd like to keep up with Maeve, can visit her Website or, you can follow her on Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads.

Celtic tarot cards? Oh, Maeve, do tell...

Your mention that Jasper is almost back to normal made my morning, He's such a handsome man. So glad to hear he's doing better.

Good luck with your series. I'm just finishing the last of one. It's been a long haul, or so it seems, and yet great fun.

Love the story about how you and hubby knew you were meant to be together almost from the moment you met. I'm also thrilled that Jasper is so much better, but you are a tease making us wait before we find out about your coming good news. Whatever it is, I hope it's fantastic. Wonderful interview.

Waving to you and Jasper, Maeve. What a fun post. I loved learning so many new things about you and love it. I am with you - the moment I saw my hubby I knew he was the one for me. Had to send him off to Vietnam for 366 days (it was Leap Year) and married him the weekend he got home. It's been 43 years and I've never regretted it.

I absolutely agree that Karen Marie Morning's highlander series are good. You should read Fever series. I like it very much. I'm waiting for her next side story, The iced ( Danny's story)
If we talk the beast, your storyline is almost like Karen's Highlander no 2. It's a berseker.
