Q&A Interview and Contest with Shiloh Walker

Shiloh Walker Interview Intro:
Hello everyone!  Book Monster Reviews and LITERAL ADDICTION are very excited and honored to welcome Shiloh Walker to our sites today!

Shiloh Walker has been writing since she was a kid. She fell in love with vampires with the book Bunnicula and has worked her way up to the more...ah...serious works of fiction. She loves reading and writing anything paranormal, anything fantasy, and nearly every kind of romance. Once upon a time she worked as a nurse, but now she writes full time and lives with her family in the Midwest.  She writes paranormal and contemporary romance, as well as romantic suspense.
About Me...seriously (written by Shiloh for her website)
They always say to tell a little about yourself! I was born in Kentucky and have been reading avidly since I was six. Writing became more my focus in middle school-I had a very boring teacher and voices in my head.  There was also a book that didn't end the way I wanted it to end-don't ask me the book, because I don't remember.  I just remember I started writing.  I never stopped.
About me now... hmm... I've been married since I was 19 to my high school sweetheart and we live in the mid-west. I started writing full time in 2004, which lets me write during the day and still devote more time to my family- three adorable children who are growing way too fast and my husband who doesn't see enough of me.
I like to read.  There's a shocker!
This list will vary, a lot, but personal faves include Nora Roberts, Stacia Kane, Ilona Andrews, Kresley Cole, Julie James, but my all time favorite is SL Viehl.  She writes sci fi and romance, but my favorite of hers is the sci fi series Star Doc.  If you haven't read them, I think you're missing out.
Shiloh is the creator of an extensive and impressive amount of series and stand-alone novels.  We wish we could include her entire library of literary excellence here but there's just not enough room.  So, if you'd like to check out Shiloh's entire backlist click HERE.
Shiloh creates amazing worlds in many genres of romance.  Her romantic suspense series include THE RAFFERTY BROTHERS and her newest, THE ASH TRILOGY.  Her paranormal romance/urban fantasy series are FBI PSYCHICS, VEIL, FIREWALKERS and the very popular GRIMM'S CIRCLE and THE HUNTERS.  She also has a few fantasy series like FATED and MYTHE, and, a numerous amount of contemporary and erotic romance novels.    So show you some of the awesomeness, here's a look at some of the books and series.

"If You Hear Her"
Book 1

The scream Lena Riddle hears in the woods behind her house is enough to curdle her blood—she has no doubt that a woman is in real danger. Unfortunately, with no physical evidence, the local law officers in small-town Ash, Kentucky, dismiss her claim. But Lena knows what she heard—and it leaves her filled with fear and frustration.
Ezra King is on leave from the state police, but he can’t escape the guilty memories that haunt his dreams. When he sees Lena, he is immediately drawn to her. He aches to touch her—to be touched by her—but is he too burdened by his tragic past to get close?
When Ezra hears her story of an unknown woman’s screams, his instincts tell him that Lena’s life is also at risk—and his desire to protect her is as fierce as his need to possess her.

"If You See Her"
Book 2

Hope Carson may not look like a survivor, but she has escaped an abusive ex-husband and recovered from a vicious assault. Now she endures the painful memories and suspicious rumors surrounding her involvement in the attack. Her ex is a cop, so the last people she trusts are law enforcement officials—and she certainly doesn’t trust how the local DA makes her feel inside.
Remy Jennings should know better. He has no business falling for a woman who he suspects may have a deeply troubled mind. And even if he did make a move, she’d bolt like a frightened rabbit. But how can he deny a burning desire that threatens to consume him? As Hope’s past catches up with her in the worst way, Remy is determined to break through her defenses, earn her trust, and keep her safe in his arms—before it’s too late.

"If You Know Her"
Book 3

Nia Hollister doesn’t scare easily. Come hell or high water, she intends to find her cousin’s killer. She returns to Ash, Kentucky, for answers. What she doesn’t expect is to ache with desire every time she sees Law Reilly. If any man can help her escape the nightmares for a while, it’s him. But can she allow herself to take comfort in those strong arms when a murderer still roams free?
Unknown to Nia, as she quietly slips into Law Reilly’s home, is that she’s being watched—by someone who is waiting for an opportunity to strike.
Timing is everything, though he can’t wait forever. If she’s not frightened, she soon will be. Nia has made a vow to find her cousin’s killer. She should be careful what she wishes for.

"Candy Houses"
Book 1

Book 1...available in ebook, or in The First Book of Grimm
Greta didn’t get her happy ending her first time around. And now that she’s a Grimm—special kind of guardian angel and official ass-kicker in the paranormal world—romance is hard to find. Besides, there’s only ever been one man who made her heart race, and the fact that he did scared her right out of his arms. Now Rip is back. And just in time too, because Greta needs his help.

On a mission he knows is going to test all of his strengths and skills, the last person Rip expected to see is the one woman who broke his heart. Working together seems to be their only hope. But, when faced with a danger neither of them anticipated, the question is, how will they face the danger to their hearts—assuming they survive, of course.

"Crazed Hearts"
Book 3

Book 3, available in ebook.  Print release forthcoming.
Ren has always danced along the fine line between being a little bit crazy and being overcome by a darkness that’s haunted him since his mortal days. As an empath, he prefers to live far from people who would leak their emotions all over him, so he’s not expecting the woman who drives right into the heart of his wood.  She has a cursed book with her and demons hot on her heels. Even more surprising are her abilities and the reaction Ren has to her.

Aileas is on the run.  She just isn’t certain if she’s running from something real or imagined. One thing is for sure, her brother is dead and she’s certain the book she found has something to do with his death. She really starts to doubt her sanity when she meets a hot but somewhat crazed man in the middle of nowhere.

He calls himself Ren, and although he doesn’t seem to be out to hurt her, he definitely wants something.  She just doesn’t understand what.  She does know what she wants though. She wants him, and the shadows and darkness she glimpses inside him don’t matter.  At least, right up until he claims to be a guardian angel.

And she thought she was going crazy.

"Locked in Silence"
Book 5

Dying is hard enough. Coming back to life is brutal.
Vanya has been hunting and killing demons ever since one of them scarred her face and killed her sister. Correction—since she was forced to kill the demon possessing her sister.

Then some sort of angel offers her a deal she can’t refuse—that if she becomes one of them, she gets to kill even more demons. Tonight, she’s made that choice. The death she smells on the air will be her own—and she welcomes it.

Silence feels a darkness is looming. Change—something he has every reason not to welcome. The deeply hidden memories that robbed him of his past, of his own name, render him unfit to teach anyone the ways of the Grimm. Yet here he is in the dankest sex club in town, waiting to assume his charge—after he stands by and watches her die.
When Vanya awakes, their complicated, dangerous dance begins. And so does something else—a searing need that blisters along their unexpected mental connection. Silence shouldn’t be drawn to his student, but once they touch, he can’t think of a reason to stop. Even though acting out their darkest desires puts them in more danger than they realize.
Warning:  This book contains sex-starved demons, lonely angels, demon-angel sandwiches, blood, violence, death and a happy-ever-after.

"Grimm Tidings"
Book 6
Release Date: April 24, 2012

Never fear the pain. Fear what lies behind it…

In his mortal life, the only thing Jacob liked better than money was a good brawl—until he stuck his fist into the wrong fight, and a demon sent him spinning into a new life as a Grimm.

Now, a hundred years later, he’s been called to protect someone too much like himself. A woman who could let the chains of her past drag her down unless she learns to let go. A woman who fights like there’s no tomorrow, because she clearly doesn’t want a tomorrow.

Celeste thought her second chance at life would be an opportunity to fix some of her worst mistakes, to set things straight. She couldn’t have been more wrong. She’s trapped by the past and her regrets, and nothing—not even her darkly sexy new trainer, Jacob—has a blade sharp enough to cut her loose.

Chains are Jacob's specialty, but his help comes with a price. To her, the cost is her heart. To Jacob…something much more.

Product Warnings:  Contains a heroine with enough fight in her to put the 300 to shame. And a hero who knows how to take a punch

"Declan & Tori"
Book 1

Tori McAdams was a sensible woman. She didn't believe in hocus-pocus, she didn’t believe in ghosts, and she definitely didn’t believe in vampires…not until the night she was attacked by one. Alone, starving and afraid, she doesn’t know what’s happening but at least she had somebody to turn to…

Declan Reilly was normally the last person she’d go to for help, but now he was the first on her list. He can help; she knows he can. She never could have planned on what happens next, though…the sexy detective is so much more than he appears.

Warning: This book contains violence, sex, more violence, a maniacal murderer, sex, more violence, and a menage or two thrown in for good measure. There are also sighs, happy endings, a romance, a hero, a heroine, and a little bit of falling in love.

"Hunting the Hunter"
Book 8

The Hunter
After two years, Kane Winter still doesn't know what really happened the night his bounty hunting partner was murdered. What he does know is that there was a mysterious woman at the scene, and he won't rest until he finds her...
The Prey
Kendall is accustomed to vampire games. After all, she is one herself—part of an elite group of warriors who keep the other vamps in line by destroying the ones who would prey on the weak and innocent. But now she's the one being stalked...
The Passion
When all trails lead to Kendall, Kane is consumed by a desire greater than vengeance—a hunger to possess this woman for himself. Together, they will travel down a dangerous path of seduction and surrender, until there are no rules left to break—and nowhere left to hide.

"Hunter's Fall"
Book 13

Something strange is happening to Nessa. Ever since she survived a near-death experience she’s not exactly who she used to be—and enjoying every minute of it. Then she’s called upon to go to battle against darkness. If only she could remember why.
Dominic is having his own problems with memory, sanity, and hallucinations. Sent to Excelsior, the covert Hunter training facility, he senses a female presence that seems so hauntingly familiar. That’s because he and Nessa share a forgotten past.
As Nessa and Dominic regain their memories, their strange mission against evil becomes clearer. And all the more dangerous because whether they should trust each other is the still the greatest unknown of all.

"Hunter's Rise"
Book 14 - Final book of the series
Release Date:  April 3, 2012

His past is a mystery, even to him—a werewolf with memories so lost in a fog that even the Hunter’s healers cannot help him. Two hundred years ago,Toronto awakened on an unfamiliar street, naked and alone. Dogged by the unanswered questions of his enigmatic existence, he fears he will never find the missing pieces of the puzzle that is his life.

The vampire Sylvia is no Hunter. She’s a take-no-prisoner mercenary that just barely skates this side of what the Hunters consider acceptable. She has no use for them, their laws, their rules. All she wants is to hunt her quarry, and make a lot of money. Her newest prey is a killer as devious as he is slippery. But her newest complication is of a more intimate sort: A blonde, blue-eyed werewolf who interferes with her plans in so many exquisite ways.

We wish we could keep on going but there's so many books and so little time to name every exquisite one of them.  Are you excited?  We know we are!  So, let’s get to know more about Shiloh a little better and find out what she has coming up next….

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Hi Shiloh!  Welcome to Book Monster and LITERAL ADDICTION!  We are very honored to have you with us today!  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and talk to us.
Shiloh {opening comments}: Thanks for having me

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  We like to start out by getting to know our guest author a bit more, and then we’ll dig into the books.
Q1): Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we can't find out on the internet?
Shiloh: I like strawberries almost obsessively, I hate Doritos with a passion and I have an undying love for Mexican food.

Q2):  What are some of your favorite hobbies or things to do when you are not busy writing?
Shiloh: Being with my kids and husband is always at the top of the list, above writing and everything else.  Beyond that, I love to read.  I like photography.

Q3):   What are 3 things that never fail to make you smile and 3 things that never fail to piss you off?
Shiloh: My oldest child, my middle child, my youngest child.  And…my oldest child, my middle child, my youngest child.

Q4):  What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
Shiloh: Eh, I don’t tend to have them.  If I’m going to feel guilty about it, I’m not going to enjoy it much so I tend to not do it.

Q5)  If you could have 1 superpower, what would you want it to be and why?
Shiloh: The ability to wish my house clean.  It’s harmless and probably wouldn’t come with a whole lot of backlash.  Plus, it would be really useful.

Q6):  What are some of your favorite television shows and movies?
Shiloh: I don’t watch much television.  Actually, until this year, I didn’t watch anything, but I really like ONCE UPON A TIME.  Movie-wise, the LOTR trilogy, Star Wars and I love just about any comic-to-movie thing like the X Men and Captain America.

Q7):  Do you have any interesting writing quirks or something you must have with you to begin your daily writing process?
Shiloh: Nothing that I have to have.  I like music but I don’t need it.  I do have a pair of gloves I wear but that’s a medical thing because of my carpal tunnel.

Q8): What are the best and hardest parts of writing for you?
Shiloh:  Getting started can be the best and the hardest. And the hardest is everything that isn’t the writing.  The promo, the business aspects.  You don’t really get warned about that and it consumes you.  It’s easily half of the job and it’s mind-boggling, but if you’re a published writer, it’s part of it, whether you like it or not.

Q9):  What do you feel is the most important trait for a hero and heroine to have?
Shiloh: They need to be relatable.  Somehow or another, the reader needs to relate to them.

Q10):  For those who have not read THE ASH TRILOGY , can you please tell us a little about the series?  Do you plan to make it more than just the three books?

Shiloh:  It starts with the heroine of book one who hears somebody screaming in the woods.  But the cops don’t find a body.  Then the body turns up and things get complicated.  And no…trilogies are generally just the three.  I have no plans to expand on them.

Q11)  Can you please give us a little information about what THE HUNTERS series is all about?  What was the inspiration behind THE HUNTERS series?
Shiloh:  Paranormal cops, basically.  I’ve been writing them a long time, but that series all came from Tori, the heroine of the first book.

Q12):  How do you feel now that THE HUNTERS series has come to an end?  Have you decided whether or not to self publish future books in this series?
Shiloh: I doubt I’d self-publish them.  Self-publishing is a LOT of work and the longer the book, the harder it is.  The only books in mind right now are longer books.  I’d prefer an editor who was familiar with the series from the get-go.  On top of an editor, I’d need a copy editor.  Then there is cover art.
There are serious costs associated with self-publishing, and no guarantee you’ll see much money in return.  In addition to the monetary costs, there’s a lot more time involved on part of the author and I just don’t have it.
If anything, I’d shift them back over to one of my epubs, but at this time, I think the best thing to do is take a break from them and maybe just the series came to its natural end.  Everything has to end at some point.

Q13):  Please tell us a little about the GRIMM'S CIRCLE series.  Was there any specific inspiration behind the creation of the GRIMM'S CIRCLE series?

Shiloh:  Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the question ‘what if’… I was watching the episode about the Hansel and Gretel demon and starting thinking…what if.
Basically they are bastardized fairy tales and in their world, the fairy tales were written to hide what really happened.

Q14): How did you decide which fairytale/fictional characters to use and twist to ultimately become the incredible cast of the series?
Shiloh:  Ah…I dunno.  I just pick whatever appeals to me and the twists evolve with their stories.

Q15)   How many more books do you have planned for the GRIMM'S CIRCLE series?  What's coming up after "Grimm Tidings"?
Shiloh:  I never know how many more.  The next one written is Sina and Luc’s story, but it hasn’t been accepted by the publisher yet, so who knows?

Q16):  Your world building is beautiful and engaging in all of your series.  Do you use real life destinations as inspirational building blocks or is everything woven fresh from your imagination.
Shiloh: Sometimes I use places I’ve visited, sometimes it’s imagination.  Sometimes I mix it up.

Q17): What has been the biggest surprise in your career?
Shiloh: How hard it is.  The writing is still the same, but everything else…it’s very hard.  You constantly have to change with things.

Q18):  What’s up next for Shiloh Walker?
Shiloh:  Hopefully some more romantic suspense trilogies along the line of the Ash books and more of the FBI psychic books.

Q19):  Is there anything specific you would like to say to the readers while we have you here today?
Shiloh: Thanks for coming along for the ride… J
