Q&A Interview and Contest with Sara Humphreys

Sara Humphreys Interview Intro:

Happy Monday Everyone!  Book Monster Reviews and LITERAL ADDICTION are very pleased to welcome author, Sara Humphreys to our sites today.

Sara is a graduate of Marist College, with a B.A. Degree in English Literature & Theater. Her initial career path after college was as a professional actress. Some of her television credits include, A&E Biography, Guiding Light, Another World, As the World Turns and Rescue Me.

Sara is the President of Taney Speaker Training, which specializes in public speaking, presentation development and communication skills training. She has trained executives at Verizon, Bristol-Meyer Squibb, Westchester County and the United States Navy.  Her speaking career began with Monster’s Making It Count programs, speaking in high schools and colleges around the United States to thousands of students.

Sara has been a lover of both the paranormal and romance novels for years. Her sci-fi/fantasy/romance obsession began years ago with the TV Series STAR TREK and an enormous crush on Captain Kirk. That sci-fi obsession soon evolved into the love of all types of fantasy/paranormal; vampires, ghosts, werewolves, and of course shape shifters. Sara is married to her college sweetheart, Will. They live in Bronxville, New York with their 4 boys and 2 insanely loud dogs. Life is busy but never dull.

Unleashed, Sara’s first published novel and the first book in The Amoveo Legend series, recently won Best Book of 2011 in the Grave Tells Reader’s Choice Awards, beating out JR Ward for the top honor. Untouched (AL #2) was just released on April 3, 2012 and will be followed by three more books in the series.  The Third book "Untamed" is expected to be released on November 1, 2012.

Dead in the City, Sara’s urban fantasy vampire series was recently sold to Sourcebooks in another five book deal, with the first book slated for release in 2013.

In case you're not familiar with THE AMOVEO LEGEND series, we've included the synopses of the 2 recently published books and the upcoming book as well…..

A fresh, exciting take on shape-shifters, which is one of the hottest areas of paranormal romance, this debut was originally self-published in a limited edition and was a word-of-mouth sensation for booksellers in a major national book chain. The acclaimed and highly original world-building of Sara Humphreys introduces the Amoveo race — beautiful, strong shape-shifters who live secretly among humans and are threatened by outside forces as well as enemies from within.

What if you suddenly discovered your own powers were beyond anything you'd ever imagined...

Samantha Logan's childhood home had always been a haven, but everything changed while she was away. She has a gorgeous new neighbor, Malcolm, who intro

duces her to the amazing world of the dream-walking, shapeshifting Amoveo clans...but what leaves her reeling with disbelief is when he tells her she's one of them...

And shock turns to terror as Samantha falls prey to the deadly enemy determined to destroy the Amoveo, and the only chance she has to come into her true powers is to trust in Malcolm to show her the way...

Just released on April 3, 2012

The Amoveo are shape-shifting animal clans who live secretly among humans and must find their pre-destined soul mate while avoiding the enemy that seeks to destroy them all.

Kerry Smithson’s modeling career ensures that she will be admired from afar, which is essential since mere human touch sparks blinding pain and terrifying visions.
Dante Coltari is hired to protect Kerry from those who know who she is—or more importantly what she is—and want her dead because of it. Nothing could have prepared him for the challenge of keeping her safe. But, strangely, his lightest touch brings her exquisite pleasure rather than pain, and Dante and Kerry have an otherwordly connection that might just pull them through

Publication Date:  November 1, 2012

William Fleury has finally found his mate. A highly respected attorney and member of the Gyrfalcon Clan, he’s known for his cold, calculating demanor. However the ice around his heart thaws the moment he sets eyes on his mate.

Layla Nickelsen is a world traveled photographer with a secret…she gets more than adigital image from her pictures. The only thing she dreads more than her Amoveo heritage is the knowledge that someday her mate will find her…and claim her. Raised on a rural Maryland farm by a loving foster mother. She and two other hybrids live in fear of the full blooded Amoveo. Unable to shapeshift like her siblings, Layla always feels out of step.
When her mate arrives to claim her the intense and immediate connection is startling…but when the safety of the farm is violated and Rosie is attacked…the game changes and sacred trusts are challenged.
William shows her the way of the Amoveo and helps her realize her powers with remarkable speed. But will the Council and the pure blooded Amoveo embrace the newly revealed hybrids?
Lines are drawn and loyalties are questioned…The Amoveo become a house divided. Layla swiftly discovers that there’s a fine line between love and lust.
You can’t escape your fate.

They sound great don't they?!  Before you run to your favorite bookseller and grab the books, check out our interview Sara to find out more about the amazing author behind the books and what she has coming up next……

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Hi Sara!  Welcome to Book Monster and LITERAL ADDICTION!  We’re so happy to have you with us today!

Sara: Hi Gals! Thanks so much for having me here today. I love finding new ways to connect with readers and people who adore romance as much as I do.

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  We always like to start out by getting to know you a little bit better.

Q1):   Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we can't find out on the internet, in your bio, etc?

Sara: 1. I was bald until I was three years old but my mother made excellent use of hats.
2. I need at least thirty minutes alone every day to do absolutely nothing.
3. I talk to myself in the car—don’t judge.

2)  What are some other hobbies and interests you like to do when you're not writing?

Sara: Well, obviously I enjoy reading romance. I’ve been trying new sub-genres and found an affinity for cowboy romances. I love to watch sci-fi movies. My boys and I adore going to the Bronx Zoo and seeing at least one new animal every time.

3)  Do you have any interesting writing quirks or things you must have with you to begin the writing process?

Sara: Music. I create a soundtrack for every book that I write and the songs on it are the ones that spark my muse. Music enables my imagination to roll wild and opens pathways to new branches of the story and characters.

4)  What is the first thing you think of when you wake in the morning?

Sara: The morning routine and getting my four boys out the door for school.

5)  Who are some of your favorite authors and series?

Sara: Christine Feehan is my all-time favorite! Her Ghostwalker and Carpathian series are my top faves that I can read over and over again. Another favorite is Lori Handeland’s Nightcreature series. If you love werewolves you’ve got to read that series. Oh! And don’t forget Terry Spear’s werewolf series too.

6)  What is your favorite inspirational quote?

Sara:   When the world says, "Give up," Hope whispers, "Try it one more time."~Author Unknown

7)  When's the last time you went to the movies and what movie did you see?

Sara: Yikes. I hardly ever have time to actually go to a movie theater anymore. I usually watch them when they come out on cable or Netflix. I have to think about that one. Hmmmm. I think it was Breaking Dawn.

8)  What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

Sara: Doing absolutely nothing.

9)  If you had the chance to spend the day with any person (dead or alive), who would you pick and what would you do?

Sara: My friend, Jenn. She passed away in 1993 and I would give just about anything to talk to her one more time, give her a hug, tell her how much I love her and share a good laugh.

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Know we'd like to ask you some questions about your books.

10)  For those who have not yet read the series, can you please give us some more detailed information about what THE AMOVEO LEGEND is about?

Sara: It’s about the Amoveo, a secret society of dream-walking, telepathic, shapeshifters who can travel at the speed of thought. Their race is comprised of 10 different animal clans, Lion, Panther, Cheetah, Tiger, Wolf, Coyote, Fox, Bear, Falcon and Eagle. They have one pre-destined mate and can only have children with this life mate. For all of their strengths, they are actually a very fragile race because when you kill one Amoveo their mate will die and you wipe out the possibility of offspring. Their race has been hunted to the brink of extinction by the Caedo family, the one human family who know of their existence. However, in Unleashed we find out that the Caedo aren’t the only enemy.

11)  What has been the most challenging part of writing THE AMOVEO LEGEND series for you?

Sara: Keeping it fresh. I want every book in the series to be a new experience. It can’t be the same old enemy or the same problem in each book and I think we’ve been able to do that. My editor is amazing.

12)  We know that the third book in the series, "Untamed" will be coming out in November and is the story of William Fleury.  Can you tell us who book 4 and 5 will be about?

Sara: Well I can’t tell you too much because I don’t want to put any spoilers out there but I can tell you this….UNDONE is the fourth book and is about Marianna Coltari, Dante’s twin sister, and Pete Castro. Pete is Dante’s employee and a human who actually knows about the Amoveo. The readers get to meet Pete in UNTOUCHED, so I hope they’ll want to learn more about him. Book five, as yet untitled, will be about……wait….I ‘m not telling.

13)  Congrats on selling your urban fantasy vampire series, DEAD IN THE CITY!  Can you tell us what this series will be about?

Sara: Thank you! Actually, it’s no longer going to be called Dead in the City. The new series title hasn’t been released yet but I’m excited none the less. It’s about a coven of vampire chicks that live and work in New York City. The heroine in book 1, Olivia Hollingsworth, is the head of the coven and actually makes an appearance in UNDONE, book #4 in the Amoveo Legend. For centuries, Olivia and the rest of the vampires have heard a rumor, a legend really, that every vampire has a blood-mate out there somewhere. Sounds pretty normal right? Well, according to the legend, if a vampire bonds with their blood-mate then they can become a Daywalker—a vampire who can walk in the sunlight.

14)  Have you decided who the first book in the series will be about?  Can you give us any juicy info?

Sara: It’s about Olivia Hollingsworth, a celibate vampire. She’s the head of a small coven of vampire chicks. She owns a nightclub in Greenwich Village that’s run out of an old church and things are fine until some of the patrons turn up dead. Really dead—not undead. Doug Paxton, the cop who comes to investigate it is a dead-ringer for her true love from for over two hundred years ago.

15)  Is there anything specific you would like to say to your readers?

Sara: Thank you! Thank you to all the readers who are sharing it with their friends and spreading the word about the series. I’m a relatively new author on the scene and word of mouth is the best gift anyone can give to an author.

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Thank you again Sara for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat with us.  We'd love to have you back again in November to help yo

u celebrate and promote the release of "Untamed".
Sara: Thank you so much for having me here today and I would LOVE to come back in November! You ladies are fab-u-lous!
