Hello Literal Addicts and Book Monsters! LITERAL ADDICTION and Book Monster Reviews are incredibly happy to welcome Rhyannon Byrd back to our sites today!
Rhyannon, who lives in the beautiful county of Warwickshire in England with her wonderful husband (who spoils her rotten *wink*) and their loud, but loveable offspring, is an avid, longtime fan of romance and fell in love with the world of paranormal romance as a reader. When she first tried her hand at writing what she calls ‘one of these dark, wickedly sensual tales’, she was completely hooked, and we ended up with one of our favorite authors!
Her MAGICK MEN, BLOODRUNNERS and PRIMAL INSTINCT series have all been hits, but the PRIMAL INSTINCT series has been an especially loved fan favorite. Rhyannon’s latest release, “Deadly Is the Kiss” which is the first book in a spinoff of the PRIMAL INSTINCT series called GRANGERS, was just dropped on March 20, 2012 and we are going to help Rhyannon promote and celebrate today!
For those of you not yet familiar with Rhyannon’s work, we highly recommend everything that she’s written and suggest that you would check it all out HERE. For today though, let’s focus on the PRIMAL INSTINCT series and her new release, “Deadly Is the Kiss”. "Deadly Is the Kiss"
GRANGERS, Book 1

A spark of danger—and a soul-deep recognition—ignited a burning, carnal need….Since her family's exile, Juliana Sabin had borne full responsibility for their safety. So when evil struck, she had no choice but to ally herself with the sexy guardian vampire. Now, months later, Ashe is back and tempting Juliana to reveal her darkest secrets…and desires. Enjoy!
[In celebration of the release of their book, we had the opportunity to take a trip out to meet with Ashe and Juliana from Deadly Is the Kiss. We hopped a plane, rented a car, and drove out to the address that we were given to meet up with the couple. After ringing the doorbell we waited patiently for our hosts. The door opened to reveal a casually dressed Ashe and Juliana standing side-by-side, his hand on her shoulder, with smiles of welcome on their faces.]
Juliana: You beautiful ladies must be Michelle and Carla! We’re so thrilled you could make the journey here to England to visit with us. My friends and I absolutely love Literal Addiction and Book Monster Reviews!
Michelle: (holds out hand to shake) Hi. It’s so great to hear that you enjoy the sites. And thank you so much for taking time out to meet with us. (smiles)
Carla: (shakes hands as well) Yes, thank you. Our readers will really appreciate hearing about what’s been going on with the two of you.
[Ashe gives a low, wickedly suggestive laugh and Juliana elbows him in the side.]
Juliana: (whispering under her breath to her husband) Behave yourself and get your mind out of the gutter!
Ashe: Hmm...I thought that’s where you liked it. (he grins at his wife, then turns and holds out his arm to welcome us inside) Right this way, ladies.
[We follow our hosts into the house, back to the kitchen where some delicious smelling coffee and pastries are waiting for us]
Michelle: First of all, congratulations on the wedding! (smiles brightly)
Carla: (smiles as well) Yes, the two of you look positively brilliant. You glow with happiness.
Ashe: (smiles proudly) She does, doesn’t she?
Juliana: (after taking a sip of her coffee, she grins at the sexy vamp) You look pretty glowy yourself, Mr. Granger.
Ashe: (arches one dark brow) You know I love you, but if you tell me I ‘sparkle like a diamond’ again, I’m putting you over my knee.
Juliana: (she looks back at us and winks) He’ll have to catch me first.
Ashe: (giving a cocky laugh, he throws his arm around his wife’s shoulders and pulls her closer to his side) I always do.
Michelle: How have things been since you got back to the ‘real world’ so to speak?
Juliana: Oh...wow. I’d have to say busy and fun...and even surreal, at times. I was gone for so long, there have been a lot of new things to get used to, and we’ve spent a lot of time working to get the house the way we want it. But it’s all been exciting, and married life has been treating us very well.
Ashe: It’s been incredible, actually.
Carla: Juliana, what was the worst part about spending so much time in the Wastelands?
Juliana: (Ashe pulls her a little closer) I know it probably makes me sound like a wimp, but the worst part was always being cold. I can’t tell you how much I longed to feel the sun shining on my face or to walk barefoot on a beach. And then there were all the things I missed, like restaurants and electricity...or TV. You wouldn’t believe how behind I was on everything, from books to new music and TV shows. I’ve been adding songs to my new IPod like crazy, and I’ve made Ashe sit through all the seasons of True Blood with me.
Ashe: (rolling his eyes) She just has a thing for the Swedish vampire.
Ashe: (laughing) It’s a good thing I have a healthy ego.
Michelle: Ashe, are you going to continue working as a Förmyndare and as part of SPEC, or are you hanging up the enforcer/assassin shield?
Ashe: (casts a careful look at his wife) I’m still working for the teams, but things have calmed down for the moment. When there’s a threat that needs to be dealt with, we’re ready to handle it. But we’re also working hard to improve communication between the clans, since we believe that’s the key to maintaining peace and surviving in the modern world.
Juliana: I won’t lie to you ladies. I worry about him like crazy, but I know he’s the best at what he does. And he’s always careful. (looks at Ashe) Right?
Ashe: Trust me, Jules. (leans over and presses a tender kiss to her lips) I’m not going to take any unnecessary risks when I’ve got you waiting at home for me. I’m not an idiot.
Carla: Speaking of risk-takers, how is your brother Gideon doing? (smiles)
Ashe: (turning his attention back to Carla, he gives a low laugh) Well, you know what Gideon’s like. He’s still—
Juliana: (cutting in) Sleeping with anything that has a pulse.
Ashe: (his mouth twitches with a smile) He definitely likes the ladies, but he’s working hard, too. We’re hoping to have him back for a long visit next month.
Michelle: So Ashe, you fought your feelings for Juliana tooth and nail. Why? You had to know she was right for you.
Ashe: (wincing) Ouch. Way to throw me under a bus, Michelle.
Juliana: (laughing) Great question. I can’t wait to hear the answer.
Ashe: (wearing a wry expression, he shrugs his broad shoulders) What can I say? I was a jackass. I knew that Jules was the one woman who could change my life—who could have the power to make or break me—and that scared the living hell out of me. Even though I badly wanted to trust her, there was a part of me that kept thinking it was too good to be true. That I couldn’t really end up lucky enough to have a woman like her fall in love with me...want to share a life with me. So for a long time, I acted out of fear. After some of the things I’ve been through, I guess my attempt to keep her from getting too close to me was just survival instinct. (he gives us a lopsided grin) Then I got the hell over it and claimed her as quickly as I could.
Carla: Juliana, now that the family is doing better, what are your plans? Have you continued painting?
Juliana: To be honest, I haven’t had a lot of time to set up my studio yet. But I’ve started dabbling a little here and there, and I’m looking forward to painting some pieces for our friends. Aiden and Olivia want a portrait of their daughter, Jamie, so I’m hoping to get a start on it next week. She’s such an adorable little girl.
Carla: If not painting, what have you been doing?
[Juliana shoots a look of warning at her husband when he gives another one of those sexy, suggestive laughs]
Michelle: Wow. He’s a handful, isn’t he?
Juliana: You have no idea. But to answer your question, I’ve spent a lot of time helping my family get settled back into the real world, and I’ve also enjoyed helping our friends with the renovations on Harrow House. They’re finishing off some new additions that need painting and decorating, and we all enjoy doing the work ourselves. (shares a private smile with Ashe) And then there’s our own special addition that we’ve needed to decorate for.
Carla: We don’t want to spoil any surprises, but we were both so happy for you when we heard the news.
Juliana: Thank you. (smiling brightly) We can’t even begin to tell you how incredibly blessed we feel.
Michelle: So have things calmed down within the council or are things still all shaken up after the news that was brought forth?
Ashe: (shakes his head) It’s definitely been a time of change for the Council. One that’s long overdue. And there’s still a lot that needs to be done. But the Deschanel clan’s eyes have been opened, and they know that more progress has to be made if they want to survive and thrive as a species.
Juliana: He’s right, of course. And both Ashe and Gideon have been instrumental in making a lot of these changes take place. They’re amazing, really.
Carla: It’s obvious you’re both very proud of each other. What do you two think it was about each other that first captured the other’s attention - besides the obvious Burning?
Juliana: Definitely his smile. The first time I saw that wicked curve of his lips, I thought it was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen.
Ashe: This is probably going to earn me another elbow in the ribs, but I think it was her ass.
Ashe: Of course, I was kinda knocked flat by the whole package. It’s not just that she’s beautiful—it’s the way so many little things make her who she is. Her spirit. Her courage. Her loyalty and her heart. (winking at his wife) But her ass is definitely first-class.
Michelle: (laughs) Now that the two of you see how good it can be, do you find yourselves wanting to match-make for the rest of the single members of the team and the rest of your friends?
Juliana: (laughing) Are you kidding? I wouldn’t trust Gideon with any of my friends.
Ashe: (rolling his eyes) He’s not that bad, Jules.
Juliana: I love your brother, sweetheart. But he still has a lot of oats to sow before he settles down. He hooked up with three different women at our wedding!
Ashe: Right. I forgot about that. (gives another wry smile)
Juliana: But, I think it’d be nice to see Damon settle down.
Ashe: (his gray eyes go wide) MacCaven? That smart-ass demon? Did you hit your head or something without telling me?
Juliana: I’m serious. He needs a good woman in his life. (looks across the table at us) What do you ladies think of Damon?
[We grin and waggle our brows]
Juliana: (returning her gaze to Ashe) See? Ask any woman who knows him, and she’ll say he’s like sex on a stick.
Ashe: (narrowing his eyes) Enough about the damn demon.
Juliana: (resting her chin on her hand) Then what about Knox?
Ashe: (throws back his head and laughs) Christ, Jules. He’s even worse than MacCaven. And he makes Gid look like a bloody choirboy.
Juliana: (scrunching her nose) You ladies see my problem? I don’t know how we’re ever going to get these single guys to settle down.
Ashe: Don’t worry about them. (grabbing his wife’s hand, he pulls it to his mouth and kisses her knuckles) They’ll settle down when they find the right woman. Just like I did.
Michelle: I’m so happy to see you both doing so well! I’m sure there’s a ton of stuff that you need to be doing, so I really appreciate you taking the time to sit down with us today. (smiles)
Carla: Yes, this has been really nice. Is there anything that you want to say to our readers before we leave? Anything we didn’t ask you that you want to make sure they know?
Juliana: (smiling) Just that we appreciate all the people that were pulling for us from the very beginning. It means a lot to both of us, and we’re grateful to each and every one of them.
Ashe: (collecting the coffee mugs and taking them to the sink) Where are you both staying for the night?
Michelle: We have rooms at the little inn down in the village.
Juliana: That’s so close! You’ll have to come back and have dinner with us tonight. We’ll invite everyone over from Harrow House. And I still need to show you the library Ashe built for me. It’s so amazing. Floor to ceiling shelves that he had stocked with all the books I missed while I was in the Wasteland.
Carla: Wow, that’s incredible.
Ashe: (smiling as he heads back to the table) It seemed like a good idea, since from what I hear, a woman can never have too many books.
Carla: (laughing) You’ve got that right.
Michelle: Absolutely. We don’t call it our Monster Addiction for nothing! (smiling)
Juliana: Please say you can make it back for dinner.
Ashe: I can have a car sent down to the inn, so you won’t have to drive.
Michelle: (quickly talks it over with Carla) Our flight doesn’t leave until tomorrow afternoon, so we’d love to. (smiling)
Juliana: Wonderful! We’re going to have such a great time!
[We all say our goodbyes and Ashe & Juliana walk us to the door. As we head out we turn around to see the couple steal a smoldering kiss as the door closes behind them]
