Author Ambush and Contest with Alexandra Ivy

Happy St. Patrick's Day
Monsters and Addicts!

Today the lovely and AMAZING Alexandra Ivy is taking over Book Monster and LITERAL ADDICTION and she's telling us how the IMMORTAL ROUGES came to life.  So show Alex some love, leave her some great comments and have an awesome weekend!!

Guest Post by Alexandra Ivy:

I’ve never been a big believer in the creative ‘muse’.  Writing is like most careers.  Success comes from hard-work, determination, and sometimes the elusive stroke of luck.  Or as Thomas Edison so eloquently put it “one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration”.    And, to be honest, if I had to depend on some fickle muse fairy I’d spend a lot of time staring at a blank page.
But on very rare occasions my muse does actually pay a fleeting visit and leaves behind a germ of an idea that plants itself in my brain and refuses to go away.
That’s what happened to me several years ago.  I was happily writing traditional regencies when I was struck by the wonderful atmosphere created by London nights in the early eighteen hundreds.   What could be creepier than to walk the cobbled streets that were shrouded in a chilled darkness, with the sounds of the city muffled by a thick, silvery fog?   Who knew what--or who-- might be lurking among the elegant homes of Mayfair, or the seedy alleys of the stews.
From that brief flare of inspiration I knew I had the perfect setting for vampires.  The dark, elegant, and silently lethal predators could glide through the ballrooms with the same ease they could hunt among the gin houses.  Unlike most monsters they’re capable of blending into human society and even living among the natives unnoticed.  You could have one as a next door neighbor and never know it.
And to make matters even more interesting, I decided to pit vampire against vampire since it would hardly be fair to have poor humans trying to fight the immortal creatures.    Good vs. Evil.  Light against dark.  With the fate of the world hanging in the balance.
Oh, and there had to be a passionate romance to add spice to the story.
And that’s how the Immortal Rogues were born.   Gideon, Lucien, and Sebastian.  Three powerful vampires who arrive in London from their home beyond the Veil to battle their evil brothers who are determined to put an end to the separation between the worlds of vampires and mortals.
Of course, once the muse made its fleeting appearance it was time to get down to the hard part of writing.  When I started the books the paranormal phenomenon hadn’t yet hit so it was a delicate balancing act.  I wanted to capture the feel of ‘Dracula’, but without offending most regency readers.   That meant the violence and bloodlust and sensual danger had to be threaded through the story with a far more subtle touch than the stories I write today.  And while I love the current trend of gritty books that can cross all boundaries, there was something special in creating the tension and simmering passion with elusive hints rather than an in-your-face style.
I hope that my readers enjoy the Immortal Rogues as much as I enjoyed writing them.  They’re a glimpse into a past that combines the elegance of the regency with the dark allure of the supernatural.

My Lord Vampire

Format:  Mass Market Paperback and eBook
Re-Release Date:  February 28, 2012
Original Publication Date:  2003
Publisher:  Zebra

* Please note this is a reprint from the 2003 Historical
Vampire Series written as Deborah Raleigh *

In the first of a mesmerizing trilogy, Alexandra Ivy,
author of the Guardians of Eternity series, introduces the Immortal Rogues—three vampires duty-bound to protect their own kind even as they fall prey to mortal desires.
Centuries have passed since Gideon Ravel dwelled among humans. Now he must infiltrate the cream of London society to earn the trust of one woman. Simone, Lady Gilbert, possesses an amulet of unimaginable power, and no concept of the threat that surrounds her. The ton's gossip prepared him for her beauty and wit. But he is blindsided by her barely disguised sensuality and his growing need to possess her. None of the idle aristocrats who vie for Simone's attentions know about her past. To them, she is the sophisticated, worldly widow known as the "Wicked Temptress." The truth would ruin her, and she has never been tempted to reveal it until now. Yet beneath Gideon's bold, black-eyed stare is a hunger that demands satisfaction and complete surrender…and a secret far more dangerous than her own.

About Alexandra:

I’m not exactly sure when I fell in love with books.  Probably on my mother’s knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me.  I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library.

Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries?  Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few.  I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays.  In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.
Years later (no, I’m not admitting how many) I’m still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy.
For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!
I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander.  Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams.  They are truly my heroes.
Be sure to visit Alex's WEBSITE to check out all of her incredible books, including the upcoming  ETERNAL GUARDIANS book "Fear The Darkness".

Just go to show that when a author writes a great story it doesn't matter what name is attached the story remains great.
A lot of people buy because of the name attached.
Alexandra obviously recognised as a fab author without being already known.
