Q&A Interview and Giveaway with Suzanne Rock

Suzanne Rock Interview

Hello everyone!  LITERAL ADDICTION and Book Monster Reviews are very happy to welcome Suzanne Rock to our sites today!
After over a decade in the scientific world, Suzanne needed a creative outlet.  She tried scrapbooking, cooking, crocheting, painting, and piano, but none of them held her interest for long.
After one of her friends suggested writing, she jumped in with two feet.  Thrilled with the idea of creating her own worlds, she opened up her laptop and never looked back.
When Suzanne’s not writing, she can be found playing with her two daughters, testing her husband’s latest kitchen creations, or curled up with her favorite romance novel in her central Massachusetts home.
Suzanne is the proud creator of the KYRON PACK, IMMORTAL REALMS and UNHOLY series as well as several independent titles – “Cria”, “Whispers”, “Spyder’s Web”, “Unholy Pursuits” and “Velvet Steel”.
The KRYON PACK series consists of two installments - “Up on the Housetop” and “Down on the Boardwalk”.
The IMMORTAL REALMS series also has 2 book – “Dark Deception” and “Dark Obsession”.
The UNHOLY series has one book out – “Unholy Pursuits”
For those of you not yet familiar with Suzanne’s work, we thought we’d give you the synopses of the books in the two series to whet your appetite, as well as the newest book in her literary library "Velvet Steel", though we highly suggest you check out her entire backlist HERE.

“Up on the Housetop” – KYRON PACK Book #1:
Desperate to escape her controlling family, Chloe Bradford scrambles up to the housetop of her Texas home on Christmas Eve. There she discovers a sexy stranger cloaked in shadow. He convinces her to shed her good-girl image and give into her most secret desires. The man's low, raspy voice tugs at her memory as much as it awakens her passion. Is he a Christmas miracle, or some figment of her imagination? When he tries to leave, she follows him, eager to learn his identity.
Zach can't stop thinking about Chloe, or their reunion on the roof. His wolf-half urges him to reveal his identity and claim her, but he doesn't dare. For both their sakes, he must remain in the shadows until he can control his inner beast's bursts of rage. After a decade of struggle he thought he could handle his curse, but Chloe's presence causes his control to slip. As the moon-rages become more frequent, he knows he's slipping toward the insanity that claims many of his kind. Only Chloe can save him, but he broke her heart over a decade ago. Her forgiveness would be the real Christmas miracle.

“Down on the Boardwalk” – KYRON PACK Book #2:
Gwen's forced to use her psychic abilities to help a deranged werewolf seek vengeance and gives up on her dream of ever being accepted and loved. That is, until Nico and Tony are thrown into her cell. Her attraction to the Kyron Pack brothers is immediate and overwhelming. As she submits to the physical attraction, old wounds heal and her powers strengthen. The brothers think she can save them, but to do so would require more than just physical intimacy, and would reveal a secret too dark and horrifying to share.
When Nico and Tony use their lust to help their battered mate, buried memories rise to the surface, and jealousy threatens to destroy the fragile wolf in their care. As each of them bonds to Gwen, they begin to withdraw from each other. Now they must heal their inner scars and forgive the past if they ever hope save Gwen and escape the Boardwalk alive.

“Dark Deception” – IMMORTAL REALMS Book #1:
After being plunged into a chaotic and deceitful society, Maria Guerrero finds comfort in the arms Enrique Torres, a man she believes is innocent of her world. She keeps him ignorant of her inner monster, and the blood oath she took to save her brother's life. Instead she prefers to use their sexual play as an escape from her supernatural world. When her secrets catch up with her, Maria is forced to confess her sins. Will Enrique find it in his heart to forgive her deception? He must, before her vampire master demands that Maria pays him his due. With the help of a disillusioned fey warrior, she convinces Enrique that vampires are real, and danger lurks around every corner.
Enrique can’t allow himself to fall for Maria charms, or he’ll risk revealing secrets of his own -- secrets which would not only scare her, but put his mission in jeopardy. He hopes that by forming a physical connection with the young vampire, he’ll lower her defenses and earn her trust, for only she can help him bring peace to the Immortal Realm. As they play out their sexual fantasies, her true identity is uncovered. On impulse Enrique gives her his trust, and her betrayal hurts him to the core. Now he wants revenge… but at what cost? As the Immortal Realm descends into chaos, Enrique and Maria must choose whether to trust each other again, or fall victims to the dark deceptions that rule their world.

“Dark Obsession” – IMMORTAL REALMS Book #2:
Long ago Javier chose to walk away from one person that mattered most in his life. Now that he is free to once again roam the Earth, he becomes obsessed with making up for past mistakes. His mission is to gain Catherine’s vote on the Immortal Council, but when he sees her he realizes he wants much more than her support for the vampires. He wants her heart. When she disappears from the Immortal Council’s halls, he tracks her down, determined to get her to remember the past — and the love they once shared.
Catherine can’t let the passion she had with Javier rekindle again — no matter what the cost. Much has changed since he abandoned her so long ago. With the Immortal Council fragmented and her werewolf king abducted, Catherine has little patience for Javier’s empty promises. Still, Javier is persistent, and soon she sees the value in having an ancient vampire for an ally. A deal is struck: she will submit to his every carnal desire if she can gain his aid in finding her king. Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned, and their erotic interludes ignite the passionate anger of Catherine’s only fey ally. Can the three of them put aside their obsessions long enough to free the tortured werewolf king? They must do it soon, for a dark presence looms on the horizon that threatens the stability of the Immortal Realm – and will force Catherine to choose between her clan and her heart.

“Velvet Steel:
Shane and Noah set out to seduce Kitty Velvet into selling them her family’s struggling steel company at a deep discount. They plan a weekend of deception and sexual adventure to convince her to give up the business she spent her life keeping afloat. As they begin their passionate getaway, things don’t go as planned. Instead of putting their rival out of business, they gain deeper feelings for the feisty blonde – and for each other. With their world upside down, Shane and Noah must now decide if business ambitions are worth losing a chance at something bigger than money, and more precious than owning a steel empire.
Kitty has worked hard to keep Velvet Steel afloat, but changing technologies and the growth of their rivals have made the company’s continued viability almost impossible. As she embarks on a erotic weekend to de-stress and regroup, she develops feelings for two strangers who turn out to be the very men who have made her life a living hell for the past year. But is saving her family business worth losing her only chance at love?

They sound smart and sexy don’t they!?  Make sure you check them out!  Now though, let’s get to the Interview and find out more about this remarkable author and her books.

LITERAL ADDICTION/Book Monster Reviews:  Hi Suzanne!  We’re very happy to have you here today and to introduce some new authors to your work.
SUZANNE: Thank you so much for having me! It’s great to be here.

LITERAL ADDICTION/Book Monster Reviews:  We always like to start out by getting to know our guest authors a little bit better.

Q1): Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we couldn’t find out easily on the Internet?
SUZANNE: Hmm…good question. Lol.
1) My husband works the night shift. After the kids go to bed I have the house to myself – that’s my writing time. J
2) I love to watch old Dr. Who and Torchwood episodes. My favorite actors from those series are David Tennant and John Barrowman respectively. J
3) I wear my hair in a bun while I write.

Q2):  What are some of your hobbies and/or things that you enjoy doing when you’re not writing or taking care of other author business? Your bio states that you enjoy all things creative.  Is there anything outside of writing that you particularly enjoy doing?
SUZANNE: I have two small kids at home, so between that and my writing, I don’t have much time left for other things. When I do get a few moments, I read or cook.

Q3):  What are 3 things that always make you smile?
SUZANNE: Great question!
1)  My kids
2)  A reader’s compliment
3)  A really good cup of coffee

Q4):  What kitchen creation of your husband is your favorite and why?
SUZANNE: There’s so many! I really like his chili. He makes it about once a year and has managed to find the perfect blend of spices and just the right amount of heat. Great for a cold winter’s day. J

Q5):  We know that this is a hard question, but who are some of your favorite authors, and what are a couple titles in your TBR pile/list right now?

SUZANNE: I love the way Em Petrova builds sexual tension, the way Barbara J Hancock uses description, the way Amanda Vyne creates a seamless world for her paranormal creatures, and Lauren Hawkeye’s beautiful writing voice. I have The Tempest (Ms. Petrova), Ghost in the Machine (Ms. Hancock), More than Life (Ms. Vyne), and Let Me In (Ms. Hawkeye) in my TBR pile.

Q6):  Was there any specific inspiration behind the creation of the KYRON PACK series?  What about the IMMORTAL REALMS or UNHOLY series?
SUZANNE: Up on the Housetop, the first book in the KYRON PACK series, was written in response to a call for submissions from Loose Id. I was asked to pick a Christmas song title and write a story around it. I did a google search for song titles and when I read “Up on the Housetop,” a scene popped into my head about two strangers meeting on the rooftop. After finishing the story, I couldn’t let the story or characters go, so I wrote a sequel. The third and final book of this series is currently with my editor.
The IMMORTAL REALMS series came from a blend of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark Series. What if the Imperial senate in Star Wars wasn’t filled with space aliens, but paranormal creatures? That essentially is the basis for this series. Three books are planned.
The last series, the UNHOLY series, started from a story I wrote 4 years ago. I wanted to create a new and different type of paranormal creature and base a series around them. It was then that the Iatros was born. Iatros in greek means “healer.” These creatures are a cross between elves in Lord of the Rings, and Clerics in Dungeons and Dragons. They guard rifts in the barrier between hell and earth. If these barriers get big enough, they form portals and creatures from the underworld pour through. This new series is from Elloras Cave. The first book is out now, and the second was just turned into my editor. J

Q7):  How many books do you have planned for each series?
SUZANNE: For both the Kyron Pack and the Immortal Realm series, three books are planned. For my new series, the “Unholy” series, at least 3 books are planned. It will depend on reader response whether I write more.

Q8):  What can we expect as each series progresses?

SUZANNE: A feud between two rival packs have been building throughout the Kyron Pack series. In the third and final installment, everything comes to a head. The Kyron Pack leader, Josh, will encounter someone from his past and try to rekindle the forbidden relationship between himself and the rival pack leader’s sister. This will be a ménage story.
When we left off the Immortal Realm series, Talen was pretty beat up. In the third and final installment, I hope to give Talen his own happy ending. I also hope to heal the rift between the clans in the council and restore peace to the realm.
In Unholy Pursuits, the hero Darien led a team of FBI agents into hell where they were captured and tortured. When Darien and his love, Arianne, returned for them, they had all disappeared. I hope to give each team member their own story. The sequel, Unholy Cravings, focuses on what happened to the twins Soren and Donar.

Q9):  Do you have anything else in the works outside of the 2 series that you’d like to share with us?
SUZANNE:My first contemporary romance, Velvet Steel, was just released on the 17th of January. Here’s the blurb:
Shane and Noah set out to seduce Kitty Velvet into selling them her family’s struggling steel company on their terms. They plan a weekend of deception and sexual adventure to convince her to give up the business she had spent her life keeping afloat. As they begin their passionate getaway, things don’t go as planned. Instead of putting their rival out of business, they gain deeper feelings for the feisty blond – and for each other.
As she embarks on an erotic weekend to distress and regroup, she develops feelings for two strangers who turn out to be the very men who had made her life a living hell for the past year. Is saving her family business worth losing her only chance at love?

Velvet Steel sounds great. Why did you decide to go into contemporary romance versus the other genres you write?

Hi everyone! Sorry I wasn't around yesterday. I got some tickets to the AFC championship last minute (football game between the patriots and Ravens), so I was tailgating and at the game. :)

Thanks for your kind words! I'm glad you like the covers. I do too.

Hi Anne! Yes, I normally write erotic paranormals. I broke out into contemporary erotic romance based on a call for submissions from my publisher, Loose Id. While I didn't make the deadline for the submission call, i enjoyed the change of pace in writing straight contemporary. I hope to do more int eh future. I still plan to write paranormals, though. :)

Thanks for picking up Up on the Housetop Aimee. I hope you enjoyed it!
