Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Hi Em!  We’re happy to have you with us today!  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to drop by and spend some time with us!

Em: Hi, it’s so great to be here! I’m excited to share with new readers.

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  We’d like to start out by getting to know you a little bit better.

Q1):   Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we can't find out on the internet, in your bio, etc?

Em: Oooh, you’re a hard one! Three things…1. I’m a dirty car person. I can’t help it; 2. I follow a diabetic diet to control low blood sugar; 3. I bought my first ‘toy’ about nine months ago.

2)  What do you love to do when you're not writing?  Do you have any special hobbies or interests?

Em: When I’m not writing, I’m reading, editing for a small press or marketing. There’s really not down time in my world. I do play piano, but it’s been too long…

3)  Who are some of your favorite authors and what books are in your TBR list?

Em:  My all-time favorite author is Anne Rice. I worship her. After that is Dickens, Diana Gabaldon, Sara Donati, and Rosamunde Pilcher. All very descriptive writers. I love being pulled into a world. Erotic romance authors I love include Mari Carr, Tina Donahue, Angela Knight, Suzanne Rock, Roz Lee…there are too many to name!

4)  What inspired you to start writing in the Erotic and paranormal romance genres?

Em:  I was working hard to break into NY publishing through my mainstream paranormal writings. After over 80 rejections, I grew pretty damn sick of it. I’d always struggled to keep the heat out of my stories, and I thought maybe I should let that side of myself run rampant to see where it led. Turns out I had a knack for the steamy writings! I still write the mainstream paranormals, but I adore sitting down with a sex scene.

5)  What are the easiest parts and the hardest parts in your writing?

Em: Easiest—the love scenes. My characters choreograph it and I channel it onto the screen. Hardest—the saggy middles. In the middle of every book, I start to flounder, thinking it’s the biggest piece of crap I’ve ever written in my life and no one in their right mind would ever want to read it. After a little hard core plotting, I get over the hump, and voila! Suddenly I’m in love again.

6)  Is there a message in your novels that you want readers to grasp?

Em:  I like to give my characters real characteristics, and yes, I steal those from people I’ve met or know intimately. I want readers to feel they could walk up to a character and be friends with him or her. As for a message, I could say something corny like “love conquers all” or something, but in my case, it’s more like “sex conquers all.”

7)  Can you please give us a little more detail about your newest releases?

Em:  In August, SKIN TRUTH my first book from Ellora’s Cave released. It just received 5 cherries from Whipped Cream Reviews, and is up for Book of the Week! This tale has a wee bit of forced sex…or is it?

My latest book, WILDER, is a spanking story set in South Africa about a woman whose dream is to break into a profession usually left to men—professional hunting. She finds her mentor to be an arrogant know-it-all, while he finds his charge to be spoiled and hard-headed. Things heat up when he bends her over his knee and warms her ass.

My next release is QUATRE-Book Four of The French Kiss Chronicles. This is my bestselling series, and I have a lot of readers chomping to get their hands on this final book in the series. It completes the story of two women who allowed themselves to explore new boundaries with the addition of one woman’s husband. When a fourth is added…whew!

8)  What are some other projects you have in the works?

Em:  I’m currently working on a hot M/M/F western set in post-Civil War Texas. Two hunky cowboys turned outlaw and one woman who can tame them both. In addition to that, I’m working on a post-apocalyptic romance. But I have a new series whirling through my mind, and if I don’t soon get time to write it, I’m going to be a very unhappy woman.

9)  What advice would you give to writers just starting out?

Em:  Practice. Write a ton. Read and study your favorite authors to find out what works for them. And people always recommend not sending your first book out to a publisher or agent. Seriously. Don’t. If you love the story, put it aside, continue to hone your craft, then go back and work on that book later.

10)  Is there anything specific you would like to say to your readers?

Em: You ROCK!!! J Seriously, I write for you. I listen to what you love and enjoy pushing you to the limits along with my characters.
