Q&A Interview and Giveaway with Stephanie Chong

Hello everyone!  Book Monster Reviews and LITERAL ADDICTION are very pleased to welcome up-coming author Stephanie Chong to our sites today.
Stephanie worked as a lawyer at a top-tier Canadian law firm and completed five university degrees before landing her dream job of ‘romance novelist’.  Her degrees include a J.D. and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, and a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing from Oxford University.

When she’s not writing, Stephanie enjoys yoga, traveling, and outdoor adventures.  She lives in Vancouver with her husband and their pug, Dexter.

Stephanie is the creator of the COMPANY OF ANGELS series, which currently consists of one book, "Where Demons Fear to Tread" -- just released on August 23, 2011.  The second book in the series, "The Demoness of Waking Dreams", is scheduled to be released in 2012.  Let's take a look at a brief synopsis of the book to see what it's all about….

"Where Demons Fear To Tread" synopsis -
Fledgling guardian angel and yoga teacher Serena St. Clair dares enter Devil’s Paradise nightclub on a mission – to retrieve the wayward Hollywood “It Boy” she’s assigned to protect.  But she’s ambushed by the club’s owner, Archdemon Julian Ascher.  The most powerful demonic entity in Los Angeles, Julian is handsome as sin, a master of temptation who loves nothing more than corrupting pleasure-seeking humans.  He won’t release the lost soul Serena is supposed to guard.  Unless she accepts his dangerous wager…
After the disastrous way his human life ended, Julian vowed that no woman would get the better of him again.  Yet this sexy-sweet angel, smelling of fresh ocean air and happiness, triggers centuries-old feelings.  Now, their high-stakes game of seduction, where angels fall from grace and where demons fear to tread, will lead them either to an eternity in hell…or a deliciously hot heaven.

Your adding it to your TBR list now aren't you!?  Let's get to the interview so we can learn more about Stephanie and her new series…..

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Hi Stephanie!  We’re happy to have you with us today!  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to drop by and spend some time with us!

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  We’d like to start out by getting to know you a little bit better.

Q1):   Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we can't find out on the internet, in your bio, etc?

1.      I completed my last semester of law school in Lyon, France.  In French.
2.      My last big trip was to Uganda.
3.      I’m married to an Irishman.

2)  How long have you been writing?  When did you write your first book?

Stephanie:  I’ve been writing since I was a kid – journaling since age seven and writing stories and making “books” since about age nine.

I started writing fiction with the intention of trying to finish a novel in 2003.  It wasn’t until January 2009 that I started writing Where Demons Fear to Tread.  This novel was my first completed manuscript.

3)  What were your feelings when your first novel was accepted?  What about when you saw the cover art for the first time?

Stephanie:  Shock and gratitude.  When my editor called, her exact words were, “I love your novel and I want to buy it.”  I was so excited I was shaking.

The first time I saw the cover, I literally gasped.  It far exceeded anything I had imagined. Since then, the art department at Harlequin has been busy.  Wait until you see the cover for the second book!

4)  Who or what has influenced your writing and why?

Stephanie:  My parents.  Without them, my writing would not exist.  From the time we were little, they read to us constantly and impressed on us the importance of education.

5)  What do you love to do when you're not writing?  Do you have any special hobbies or interests outside of yoga, traveling or outdoor activities?

Stephanie:  “Outdoor activities” encompasses a lot!  Everything from hiking and biking to downhill skiing.  Here in Vancouver, a lot of life here centers around the outdoors.  I lived in Toronto for ten years, and was much more into the arts there – I loved going to the opera, and I sang in a female vocal ensemble.

Now, my husband and I have a 15-month-old pug.  It’s Dexter’s (the pug’s) hobbies and interests that take up a lot of my spare time these days: going for walks, visits to the dog park and the dog beach.

6)  Who are some of your favorite authors and what are a couple titles on your TBR list?

Stephanie:  I love Kerrelyn Sparks and Kresley Cole.  A couple other favorite authors on my TBR list: Maggie Shayne’s “Wings of the Night” series finale, Twilight Fulfilled.  And Gena Showalter’s upcoming release, The Darkest Surrender.

7)  Can you please give us some more information about the COMPANY OF ANGELS series?  Who are the characters?  What do they do?  Etc.

Serena St. Clair, the heroine: A Guardian angel and yoga teacher, Serena left her own human life at just twenty-three years old.  Now sent back to earth to guide humans, Serena is innocent, gentle and full of optimism.

Julian Ascher, the hero: Archdemon Julian owns an empire of nightclubs.  Which he uses to lure humans into their greatest moments of weakness and desperation, of fantasy and desire.  A connoisseur of pleasure, Julian loves destroying beautiful woman for the sheer joy of ruining the sublime.

8)  "The Demoness of Waking Dreams" is the next book in the series.  Can you tell us a little bit about what we can expect in this book?

Stephanie:  The Demoness of Waking Dreams is Luciana’s story.  Watch for an explosive and sensual tale of a strong-willed demoness who meets her match in the tough guy angel who is sent to track her down.

9)  How many books do you have planned for this series?

Stephanie:  There are three books planned in the “Company of Angels” series.

10)  Is there anything specific you would like to say to your readers while we have you here today?

Stephanie: It’s my dream come true to share my writing with readers, and to have the opportunity to hear from so many people who love books!  I’m inspired by all of you, by your love of reading, and by your love of paranormal romance in particular.  Thank you, and happy reading!!

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Stephanie, thank you again for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and talk with us.  We hope to have you on Book Monster and LITERAL ADDICTION again in the future.
Stephanie: Thank YOU!  It has been my pleasure entirely.  I look forward to the next time, too!
