Q&A Interview and Giveaway with Rose Pressey

Hello everyone!  LITERAL ADDICTION and Book Monster Reviews are happy to welcome Rose Pressey to our sites today!
Rose enjoys writing quirky and fun novels with a paranormal twist. The paranormal has always captured her interest, and the thought of finding answers to the unexplained fascinates her. When she's not writing about werewolves, vampires and every other supernatural creature, she loves eating cupcakes with sprinkles (you should have seen the one she ate on her birthday!), reading, spending time with family, and listening to oldies from the fifties. She lives in the beautiful commonwealth of Kentucky with her husband, son and two sassy Chihuahuas.

Rose is the proud creator of the MYSTIC CAFÉ, LARUE DONAVAN, RYLIE CRUZ and VERONICA MASON series.  Each series currently consists of 1 installment, and all of them have been getting very good reviews.

MYSTIC CAFÉ consists of “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Spells”, LARUE DONAVAN is “Me and my Goulfriends”, RYLIE CRUZ is “How To Date a Werewolf”, and VERONICA MASON has “Rock n Roll is Undead”.

Let’s tell you a little bit more about Rose’s two most recent releases; “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Spells”, MYSTIC CAFÉ Book #1, which was released on June 1, 2011, and “Rock n Roll is Undead”, VERONICA MASON Book #1, which was released on June 29, 2011.

“No Shoes, No Shirt, No Spells” Synopsis:
Elly Blair welcomes the chance to escape her ex-fiance and job from hell when Grandma Imelda, ready to retire to sunny Florida, calls for her to take over her little southern cafe.
Elly has no idea her grandmother has baked up magic for the unsuspecting townsfolk for thirty years-and now Grandma Imelda insists that Elly use her own hitherto unsuspected magical powers to carry on the family tradition.
But Elly's new at this stuff. Her dishes don't turn out as full of smidgens of enchantment and dashes of wishes come true as she'd hoped. When handsome customer Rory Covington takes a bite of the wrong burger, he ends up capturing the attention of every woman in town. Elly doesn't know if her feelings for Rory are true or based on her magic gone awry.
Tom Owenton is an investigator the National Organization for Magic sent to look into the magical mishap. Unless Elly can reverse the spell, the cafe will be closed permanently. Tom is more than willing to help Elly out of this magical pickle, but she's not sure she should accept his offer.
Elly only has forty-eight hours to find a way to reverse the spell, or she'll lose the cafe and never discover if her feelings for Rory are real.

“Rock n Roll is Undead” Synopsis:
Veronica Mason; lead singer of the rockabilly band The Voodoo Zombies; discovers her vampire bass player staked through the heart. A vision of the murder flashes in Veronica’s mind and she wonders if she’s going bonkers. Up until now her supernatural skills consisted of a few botched love spells.
Using her sexy voice and pin-up style has paid off, she’s about to land a record deal. But suspicion soon turns to her when another vampire turns up as nothing more than a pile of ashes a vacuum would have a hard time sucking up. Veronica has to hone her paranormal powers or lose her deal; and possibly her life.
When an utterly delicious mystery man steps in as the new bass player, Veronica can’t figure out if he’s there to help or cause more problems. What she does know is she can’t resist his good looks and sex appeal. She wonders if they’d make rockin music together. But helping the undead could stop her from finding out and leave Veronica dead permanently.

They sound great, don’t they!?  They’re very entertaining!  You can read LITERAL ADDICTION’s Guest Reviewer’s Review of “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Spells on http://literaladdictionparanormalbookclub.blogspot.com/2011/08/archive-literal-addictions-review-of-no.html (as well as Amazon, GoodReads and LibraryThing).  For now though, let’s get to the Interview and learn some more about Rose and her books…

LITERAL ADDICTION/Book Monster Reviews:  Hi Rose!  We’re very happy to have you here today!
ROSE: Thanks for having me! I’m excited to be here.
LITERAL ADDICTION/Book Monster Reviews:  We like to start out by finding out a bit more about our guest author, and then we’ll dig into the books…
Q1): Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we couldn’t find out easily on the Internet?
ROSE: Three things? That’s a tough question. I’m an open book, so thinking of something I haven’t talked about before is tough. But here goes: As a child, I was terrified of the headless horseman. I kicked the caffeine habit eight years ago. I only drink caffeine free diet soda; I don’t like coffee. I like to drink diet soda for breakfast.
Q2):  When did you start writing, and was there anything or anyone in particular that inspired you to become an author?
ROSE: I started writing non-fiction ten years ago. I’d always wanted to write fiction. One day after reading a novel, I decided to go for it. After that, I was hooked; I love it.

Q3):  What’s your favorite inspirational quote?
ROSE: Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein
Q4):  How did your love affair with Elvis start, and how much Elvis fangear do you own?  ;-)
ROSE: Surprisingly, I don’t have a lot of fangear, just a couple books. I’ve always loved Elvis. I think my mother must have listened to Elvis songs in the hospital room when I was born. I was five when Elvis died. I said when I grew up I’d marry Elvis, so now I tease my husband that I got as close as I could by marrying him since his last name is Pressey.

Q5):  What are some of your favorite TV Shows and Movies?

ROSE: I love any paranormal program. My new favorite show is Paranormal Witness. Two of my favorite movies are A Summer Place and Shag.
Q6):  Who are some of your favorite authors, and what’s in your TBR pile right now?
ROSE: I love books with humor. Some of my favorite authors are Molly Harper, Dakota Cassidy, MaryJanice Davidson, and H.P. Mallory. A couple weeks ago, I bought The Sixes by Kate White, but I haven’t had a chance to read it.
LITERAL ADDICTION/Book Monster Reviews:  O.K, now we’ll ask some questions directly related to your available backlist, though these questions are kind of ‘big’ since we want to cover all four series…  Sorry!  J
Q7):  Do you have a personal favorite among your books so far; maybe one that holds special meaning for you, etc?
ROSE: I love all of them, so it’s hard to pick. I love Rock ‘n’ Roll is Undead because of my love for rockabilly. Plus, I think Veronica is great, even if her witchcraft skills are lacking.
Q8):  Was there any specific inspiration behind any of the 1st books in the four series?

ROSE: I was dieting when I wrote No Shoes, No Shirt, No Spells. All I could think of was food. I thought how wonderful it would be if food had magic added and contained zero calories.
Q9):  Can you tell us a little bit more about each of the 4 series for our readers who have not yet had a chance to read your books?

ROSE:
The Larue Donavan series is about a psychic medium who has a never-ending stream of ghosts hanging around. There are witches, ghost hunting, mystery, and a hunky hero involved, too.
The Rylie Cruz series is about a werewolf who owns a matchmaking company. She’s cursed to never find her true love so she decides to help others find their soul mates. It’s not that easy though when she has a crazed angry client, mangy werewolves following her, and a hunky psychiatrist questioning her sanity.
The Veronica Mason series is about an inept witch who loves to sing rockabilly and has a band full of vampires. She also has a new paranormal power that she must hone to solve the mystery happening around her. There’s a hot bass player named Buzz, too.
The Mystic Café series features Elly Blair. She takes over her grandmother’s café, but she has no idea her grandmother adds magic to the food. Elly’s clumsy and clueless has to how to work magic. When a good-looking customer gets the wrong spell, things go from bad to worse.
Q9):  Another big question --how many books do you have planned for each of the four series?
ROSE: At least three in each series, but if readers want more, I’d love to write more.
Q10):  What can we expect as each of the four series progress?

ROSE: More adventures, mystery, love, and delving deeper into the paranormal worlds.
Q11):  What’s a typical work day like for you?  Do you have a routine; is there something that you absolutely have to have with you to get through your day, etc?
ROSE: I answer emails, and do marketing in the mornings, then write in the afternoon and evening. I do marketing periodically throughout the day. I couldn’t function without my caffeine free diet soda.
Q12):  With Fantasy being such a popular genre these days, what about it fascinates and draws you personally?

ROSE: I love having a world that’s different from the daily routine. A world where different creatures and powers are possible…where anything is possible.
Q13):  Is there a question that you have always wanted to be asked in an interview but have never been asked?  How would you answer that question?

ROSE:  I can’t think of anything. Everyone is always so great with asking fantastic questions.
Q14):  Is there a specific message in any of the books that you’re hoping your readers will grasp?

ROSE: Just that obstacles can be overcome with perseverance.
Q15):  Is there anything that you’d like to say to your readers while we have you with us today?

ROSE: I’d like to thank those who have read my books. I really appreciate it and love being able to share my stories with everyone.
LITERAL ADDICTION/Book Monster Reviews:  Rose, thank you so much for being with us today!  We apologize for asking questions that required such long answers, but we wanted our readers (and yours) to get the most out of this interview!  J
ROSE:  I can’t thank you enough for having me on your blogs. I had a great time answering your questions. They were fantastic! Thanks again.
