Q&A Interview and Giveaway with R.G. Alexander

Hello everyone!  LITERAL ADDICTION and Book Monster Reviews are proud to welcome R.G Alexander to our sites today!
R.G is a bestselling author who has written well over 20 books in the erotic paranormal, contemporary, sci-fi/fantasy and steampunk genres for multiple ePublishers and Berkely Heat.
She has lived all over the United States, studied archaeology and mythology, been a nurse and a vocalist, and not… a writer who dreams of vampires, witches and airship battles, and feels lucky every day that she gets to share her stories with her readers.
R.G is happily married to a talented chef who is her best friend, her research assistant, and the love of her life!
R.G is the proud creator of the CHILDREN OF THE GODDESS, WICKED, SHIFTING REALITY, BONE DADDY and TEMPTATION UNVEILED series.  Her newest releases,  “Three Sinful Wishes”, which was just released on June 7, 2011, and “Possess Me”, BONE DADDY Book #1, which was dropped on August 3rd have been getting rave reviews.  “Tempt Me”, BONE DADDY Book #2, is due out on November 1st, 2011, and we’re here to help her promote and celebrate all of the above, as well as the rest of her work!

For those of you not yet familiar with R.G’s work, we’d like to give you the synopsis of the 2 latest releases as well as her upcoming title “Tempt Me”.

Three Sinful Wishes” Synopsis:
In hot and steamy Sedona, Arizona, three women are about to be granted their most intimate desires.
Dani, Bailey, and Kaya think they know what they want from life—success, independence, and a gorgeous man to share their beds—but when they perform an old wish-making ritual together, each of them gets a sinful surprise.
In these three interrelated love stories, these women discover that two is company…and three is even better.

BONE DADDY BOOK #1-“Possess Me:
Three exciting new paranormal erotic novellas set in New Orleans, with a voodoo twist that’s pure magic.
In the Big Easy, there’s a legend women long for:  a sexual voodoo spirit who can fulfill their darkest fantasies.  And in these three steaming-hot novellas, he helps three New Orleans couples achieve the ultimate satisfaction…
In “Release Me”, Allegra heads down to New Orleans to heal her wounds, but she never expects to lose her heart to such a quiet, troubled man as Rousseau.  She’s even less prepared for the scorching, sexual spirit within him, and what he can do to her…
In “Reclaim Me”, Ben has loved Michelle as long as he can remember.  But his beautiful artist has a way of running away from life, and what the pair could be.  Leave it to the infamous spirit to help Ben prove to Michelle where she belongs:  in his embrace…
In “Redeem Me”, it’s All Saints’ Day, the one day the voodoo spirit can walk the world in flesh.  When he bumps into Bethany, she might just be the reincarnation of a girl he once loved.  Passion ignites, but can the couple overcome past mistakes and have a real chance at love?

BONE DADDY BOOK #2-“Tempt Me:
Gabriel Toussaint Giodarno has returned to New Orleans to make amends with his estranged family.  The last thing he expected was to be hounded by a magical wannabe-guardian-angel, or to be tempted by a beauty who’s strictly off-limits.
Angelique Rousseau has always lived a safe, uneventful life.  But when her friend’s twin brother arrives, Angelique finds herself drawn to him.  Neither Gabriel nor Angelique is prepared for the intensity of their joined passions, or what the voodoo spirits have in store for them…

Well, now that we’ve got you all frantically downloading the books, how about we get to the interview and learn more about the remarkable woman behind these amazing literary gems shall we!?

LITERAL ADDICTION/Book Monster Reviews:  Hi R.G!  We’re very happy to have you here today, and are excited to help you promote “Three Sinful Wishes” and the BONE DADDY series!
R.G: Thank you so much for that amazing introduction! I’m very happy to be here.
LITERAL ADDICTION/Book Monster Reviews:  We like to start out by finding out a bit more about our guest author, and then we’ll dig into the books…
Q1): Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we couldn’t find out easily on the Internet?
R.G: Oh my. Secrets, huh? Okay but I warn you, I’m fairly boring.
1. I often secretly wish Captain Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly, Captain Jack Harkness from Torchwood, the tenth Doctor Who and Bone Daddy from Possess Me could be combined and delivered to my doorstep (its okay, my husband knows).
2. At the tender age of eight I held the distinction of being an extra in one of the worst movies ever made. (I was next to a parade float when an innocent girl was murdered with an eggplant. Yes, an eggplant.)
3. I am a bit of a conspiracy theorist. But harmless, I promise. Comes with my vivid imagination. In fact, I have promised a fellow author I will wear a fashionably designed tin foil hat to the next appropriate costume party at RT
Q2):  What are 2 things that never fail to make you smile, and 2 things that always piss you off?
R.G: The smiling? 1. When my new puppy falls asleep on my husband.  2. Making a friend smile

Pisses me off? 1. When someone messes with/insults my friends 2. Unreasonably judgmental or intolerant people

Q3):  If you could have 1 superpower, what would you want it to be and why?
R.G: Oh this is such a tough question! I want so many. When I was writing my superhero series, my character in Who Wants to Date a Superhero? was Theta Wave. He is telepathic and can use his mental abilities to make just about anything happen. I suppose since I still occasionally try to move objects around with my mind, his power would be my choice.
Q4):  What are some of your hobbies or things that you enjoy doing when you’re not working, writing or taking care of other business?
R.G: When I’m not working or writing? Sleeping is always a fun choice J But I also love to spend time with my husband or my sister and friends, playing poker or singing or--well, its probably obvious that I love to read.
Q5):  What’s your guilty pleasure?

R.G: Dark chocolate. Although I have no reason to feel guilty, since studies have shown it is good for me (that’s my study and I’m sticking to it)

Q6):  Who are some of your favorite authors, and what’s in your TBR pile right now?
R.G: Before I started writing I read all the time. Kenyon, Feehan and Moning... Lora Leigh was my first ebook, so she holds a special place, and of course, I really do love the work of my fellow Smutketeers: Eden Bradley, Crystal Jordan and Karen Erickson. Honestly I read a lot of mythology texts and non-fiction pertaining to ancient civilizations when I’m not reading romance. I love that stuff. As to the tbr list, my sister wants me to read Game of Thrones and I keep saying,” After this deadline”, but I always have a deadline. I’ve promised to take a reading break soon though.
Q7):  What’s your idea of the perfect date?
R.G: My idea of the perfect date? I’m very adaptable; the perfect date could be anywhere, at any time, as long as my date makes me laugh--that would be perfect. Luckily, Cookie knows how to do that very well.
Q8):  What are the best and worst parts of writing for you?
R.G: The best part is, honestly, nearly everything. I spent my life imagining worlds and daydreaming while working at other jobs. When I realized I could do it for a living, that people actually wanted to share my daydreams, I was over the moon. And the people I’ve met, readers and writers, are my soul mates and friends. People all over the world who I now know because of what I do, who are a joy to write with and for. I feel incredibly lucky.
The worst part? I am, without a doubt, the worst boss I have ever had. Weekends no longer exist, and my husband has often had to remind me to eat or take a break. There are just too many stories to tell, and too little time.
Q9):  What’s a typical work day like for you?  Do you have a routine; is there something that you absolutely have to have with you to get through your day & get the creative juices flowing, etc?
R.G: One word. Coffee.

Q10):  What type of scenes do you enjoy writing the most (action, love, dialogue, etc)?

R.G: I love the scenes where we’re really learning about the characters, discovering what they are truly made of.

Q11):  What’s your fondest childhood memory?
R.G: Sunday mornings waking up to the soundtrack of Camelot, watching my mother cleaning to “C’est Moi”
LITERAL ADDICTION/Book Monster Reviews:  O.K, now we’ll ask some questions directly related to “Three Sinful Wishes” and the BONE DADDY series…  J
Q12):  Was there any specific inspiration that lead to the concept and creation of the BONE DADDY series?
R.G: A phone conversation with a friend. All I know is one minute I was laughing hysterically while hearing about a strange night out and the next I saw him in my mind. He just appeared so clearly, standing in the doorway and looking at me with those eyes. Bone Daddy. He sort of took over from there.

Q13):  Is there a specific message in “Three Sinful Wishes” that you’re hoping your readers will grasp?

R.G:  I think with that anthology its that wishes do actually come true, just rarely in the way you expect them to. And that can be a good thing.

Q14):  What were the challenges (research, literary, psychological, logistical, etc) in bringing “Possess Me” to life?
R.G: I’ve said this before, it was getting over the word voodoo. That word, for most people, brings up visions of zombies and snakes and all the bad, scary things in the world. I studied mythology and religion and even I could not believe I was writing about it. But the research was eye opening and fascinating. As with most other beliefs, there is as much light as dark. Its about tradition and family and faith, and it can be beautiful.

Q15):  Do you have a follow-up planned for “Three Sinful Wishes”?

R.G: I don’t think so, but you never can tell with me. I am addicted to series writing. J
Q16):  What can we look forward to as the BONE DADDY series progresses?
R.G: I am hoping to write another three-novella anthology. We have a few new characters who are drawing my attention. Two who were inspired by some sassy Smutkedettes (readers from Smutketeer yahoo group) who had an urge to go on a Bone Daddy Hunt. Hopefully, they will draw other readers in as well.

Q17):  What else is in the works for R.G Alexander outside of “T
empt Me” being released?
R.G:  Oh lots. I am finishing the Temptation Unveiled series, hopefully at least one of the two books contracted will be out before the end of the year. I’ve recently added a novella to the Children of the Goddess series-Eternal Guardian-and I am planning on a short that is connected to my Wicked series.
But some of the most interesting news is the upcoming debut of my second penname, Rachel Grace. Geared for Pleasure: An Elemental Steam Romance is a two-story steampunk anthology coming out from Berkley Heat in March 2012. It’s the first in a series, and it is entirely inspired by my author blog The Smutketeers. In fact, the story idea came before the blog, and we’ve just celebrated our three-year anniversary so I’m so glad it is finally coming to life.
Q18):  Is there a question that you have always wanted to be asked in an interview but have never been asked?  How would you answer that question?
R.G: I can’t tell you the question, but the answer is 42. (yes, that was a Hitchhiker’s reference)
Q19):  What legacy do you hope to leave behind with your work?
R.G: I would like to be known as a good storyteller. I would like to think that I made people smile, touched their hearts and gave them ideas…good and bad.
Q20):  Is there anything specific you would like to say to your readers while we have you here today?
R.G: Yes! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your emails and continuous support mean so much to me, and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life sharing my daydreams with you.
LITERAL ADDICTION/Book Monster Reviews:  R.G, thank you so much for being with us today!  “Three Sinful Wishes” and THE BONE DADDY series look absolutely fantastic and we’re very happy to help you promote them!  We’d LOVE to have you back to help promote your next release in 2012 if you’re interested!
R.G:  Of course I’m interested! Thank you so much!

Wonderful interview and strangely enough the answer to question #2 is similar to my own only my dog is no puppy any more :D
Imagine a rather stocky, heavy built Staff who thinks she is still a puppy and wants on your lap (she doesn't fit there any more). That sight is enough to make anyone smile :D
