"Darkness Dawns" - Once, Sarah Bingham’s biggest challenge was making her students pay attention in class. Now, after rescuing a wounded stranger, she’s landed in the middle of a battle between corrupt vampires and powerful immortals who also need blood to survive. Roland Warbrook is the most compelling man Sarah has ever laid hands on. But his desire for her is mingled with a hunger he can barely control . . .
In his nine centuries of immortal existence, no woman has tempted Roland as much as Sarah. But asking her to love him is impossible -- when it mean forfeiting the world she’s always known, and the life he would do anything to protect.

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION: Hi Dianne! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to drop by and spend some time with us! We’re so happy to have you with us today!
Dianne: Thank YOU. I’m very excited to be here.
Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION: We always like to start out by getting to know you a little bit better.
Q1): Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we can't find out on the internet, in your bio, etc?
Dianne: 1) My favorite shoes are Converse Chuck Taylor high top sneakers.
2) I took eleven years of piano lessons.
3) I snack compulsively when editing my manuscripts.
2) We know when you are not writing, you are very active in the Independent Film Industry. Can you tell us more about what you do there?
Dianne: In Pre-Production, I usually serve as casting coordinator, issuing casting calls and scheduling auditions and callbacks, which has helped me conquer a little bit of my shyness. J In Production, I more often than not work as script supervisor, ensuring that continuity is maintained. So when a scene is shot multiple times from multiple angles, I’m the one who makes certain the actress carries her purse on the same shoulder in each take or that an actor reaches for the doorknob with the same hand at the same time in each take. I also provide special effects and special effects make-up, which is always fun. I love the challenges such can present. I’ve appeared onscreen a few times, too, as an extra. I’m actually very camera shy, but admit running at the camera while swinging a machete and screaming at the top of my lungs can be quite entertaining. J In Post-Production, I edit films shot in HDV or DV, make trailers and design movie posters.
3) What are some other hobbies and interests you like to do when you're not writing?
Dianne: I’ve loved to read ever since I was a kid and do so every chance I can get. No matter how big my TBR pile becomes, I just can’t resist adding another book. Then another. And another. I love gardening, too.
4) When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Dianne: I wrote my first romance when I was around twelve or thirteen, but didn’t decide to pursue romance writing seriously until college. I originally studied journalism, but just didn’t enjoy writing articles as much as I did fiction, which allowed me to give my imagination free reign.
5) What made you decide to write a novel in the paranormal romance genre?
Dianne: I LOVE paranormal romance. It combines my two favorite genres: romance and horror. It makes the ordinary world extraordinary and has very few boundaries. Almost anything can occur in a paranormal romance, so you just never know what might happen when you turn the page. And, since I love it so much, I couldn’t resist exploring the genre in my own writing.
6) Do you have any interesting writing quirks?
Dianne: Hmm . . . I have to keep a kitchen timer on my desk because I tend to become so engrossed in writing or editing that I lose all track of time and forget I’m cooking. J I also seem to become oblivious to noise when I write on my NEO. When I work on the computer, sounds (music, conversation, television, etc.) easily distract me. But with the NEO, for some reason I can tune out just about everything and can write in any environment.
7) Who are some of your favorite authors and series?
Dianne: I have SO many favorite authors in so many romance sub-genres. Since we’re talking paranormal romance today, I’ll name some of my favorite authors of paranormal series I enjoy: Alexandra Ivy, Gena Showalter, Kresley Cole, J. R. Ward, Alexis Morgan, Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lynn Viehl, Lynsay Sands, and Amanda Ashley.
Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION: Know we'd like to ask you some questions about the IMMORTAL GUARDIANS series.
8) Can you please give us some more detailed information about who the IMMORTAL GUARDIANS are and what it is that they do?
Dianne: Absolutely. The immortals and vampires in my books aren’t dead. Or undead. Rather both are infected with the same very rare symbiotic virus that first conquers, then replaces their immune system, lending them dramatically increased strength, speed, regenerative capabilities, and enhanced senses. Immortals, however, were something more than human even before they were infected. Unlike vampires (ordinary humans who have been transformed by the virus), immortals were born with extremely advanced DNA that bestows upon them wondrous gifts (telepathy, telekinesis, and others) and protects them from the insanity vampires suffer as a result of the brain damage the virus causes. Under the leadership of the eldest among them, the Immortal Guardians have devoted themselves to hunting down the vampires who have succumbed to insanity and begun preying upon humans even as the immortals seek a cure for the virus and attempt to prevent the general public from becoming aware of their existence.
9) Where do you get your information or ideas for the IMMORTAL GUARDIANS series?
Dianne: A wide variety of sources. Television often fires my imagination, whether I’m watching something on the History Channel, Animal Planet, and news channels or losing myself in movies, animated shows, or sitcoms. Books, biographies, the internet . . . ‘what ifs’ spawned by sheer boredom when I’m stuck in traffic or struggling to ignore the dentist’s drill. (You know the kind: “What if, while I’m lying here having my teeth cleaned, one of those ceiling panels above me were to slowly ease back one millimeter at a time to reveal a pair of glowing eyes staring down at me?”) I find ideas all around me.
10) How many books do you have planned for the series?
Dianne: Right now I don’t have a specific number in mind. I’ll let the series story arc be my guide.
11) What can we expect as the series progresses?
Dianne: A lot of danger and excitement, coupled with romance. J The villain in Darkness Dawns starts the proverbial snowball rolling down the hill. The world of the IMMORTAL GUARDIANS forever changes and will continue to do so as the threats barreling toward them increase. Their relationship with vampires will alter. Their belief that immortals, vampires, and gifted ones are the only paranormal beings on the planet will come into question. And some will find love in the most unexpected places.
12) Which of the IMMORTAL GUARDIANS is your favorite and why?
Dianne: I really like Roland. But I’m going to have to choose Marcus simply because his character has been with me the longest. Before Darkness Dawns, I wrote a time travel romance (not yet published) in which Marcus was an immortal in the present and the hero’s teenaged squire in the thirteenth century. I loved his character when he was a gallant, flirtatious boy and still do now that he’s an immortal man skating the edge . . . that is, until a certain woman throws his life into chaos.
13) Is there a character in the series that you are finding it a challenge to write about?
Dianne: Chris Reordon, who runs the network of humans who aid the Immortal Guardians, is proving to be somewhat of a challenge. He appears in every book and is fiercely loyal to the immortals, but . . . Chris knows how to hold a grudge. Events in Darkness Dawns and Night Reigns lead him to hold a major grudge against a certain individual (can’t say whom because it’s a spoiler for those who haven’t read Darkness Dawns), and I’ve had to tread carefully when letting him express his anger in order to prevent him from coming across as unlikeable. (He really is a nice guy.)
14) What's next for Dianne Duvall? What do you have planned in the upcoming months?
Dianne: First and foremost, I plan to complete book three in the series. I’ll also continue to promote Darkness Dawns and begin scheduling a big blog tour full of contests to celebrate the release of Night Reigns. I’ll host an even bigger contest on my website and blog as the December 6th release date approaches and will return here (Yay!) on December 5th.
15) Is there anything specific you would like to say to your readers?
Dianne: I know readers are sometimes reluctant to try new authors, so I’d like to thank all of those who have read my debut novel, Darkness Dawns. You’ve been so supportive and have inspired many, many smiles. I really appreciate it and hope you’ll enjoy Night Reigns!
Thank you so much Dianne for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and talk to us. We are looking forward to having you back on December 5th, to help you promote and celebrate the release of "Night Reigns".
