Q&A Interview and Giveaway with Lee Roland

Hello Book Monsters and Literal Addicts, Book Monster Reviews and LITERAL ADDICTION are very pleased to welcome author Lee Roland to our sites today.

Lee Roland writes dark, contemporary fantasies where strong, defiant women and men battle evil.  Her characters are passionate in love, savage in hatred, and defy conventional means as they pursue justice
Lee lives with her husband in Florida and is hard at work on her new series THE EARTH WITCHES.
"Viper Moon" is the first novel in THE EARTH WITCHES series and it was quoted by RT Book Reviews that: “Roland hits the ground running with an impressive debut that contains an edgy, dark energy. The atmosphere is suitably eerie, which will keep readers on the edge of their seat as things definitely go bump in the night!”

Here is a brief synopsis to get you all acquainted with "Viper Moon:
Cassandra Archer has faithfully served the earth Mother for years, rescuing kidnapped children from monsters—both human and supernatural—dwelling in the ruins of the Barrows District. But when two children are kidnapped under similar circumstances, all clues point to a cataclysmic event on the next dark moon. Now Cass must race against the clock and prevent a sacrifice that could destroy the entire town…

Now, let's get started on the interview so we can find out more about Lee and THE EARTH WITCHES.

Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  Hi Lee!  We’re happy to have you with us today!  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to drop by and spend some time with us!

Lee:
Book Monster Reviews/LITERAL ADDICTION:  We’d like to start out by getting to know you a little bit better.

Q1):   Can you tell us 3 things about yourself that we can't find out on the internet, in your bio, etc?

Lee: One, I get to leave my day job at the end of November and write full time.  I’ve dreamed about that for years.  Two, I love the desert mountains of the southwest.  I plan to go there and write another novel when I do leave the day job.  Three, I love children, small dogs, and the laughter of friends.

2)  How long have you been writing, and what inspired you to start?

Lee: It was nine years from the time I started writing until I NAL bought Viper Moon.  The lesson in that for writers is never, ever give up.  I completed five full novels before Viper Moon sold.

3)  What made you decide to start writing Paranormal Romance?

Lee:  I had little interest in Paranormal Romance when I first started writing.  It was joining the Romance Writers of America (RWA) that gave me a different perspective on the genre.  Until then, I preferred sword and sorcery fantasy and science fiction.  I started reading PR, and was hooked.  I knew it was what I wanted to write.

4)  What do you love to do when you're not writing?  Do you have any special hobbies or interests?

Lee:  It seems like I have little time to do anything now except work the day job and write, but I enjoy photography and spending time with my two little dogs.  I do travel as much as possible.

5)  Who are some of your favorite authors and what books are in your TBR list?

Lee: Anything new by Janet Evanovich, J.D. Robb, Stephen King or Christina Dodd.

6) Can you please tell us a little bit about THE EARTH WITCHES series"?

Lee:  The Earth Witches series evolved from my reading of myths.  The prominence of the Earth Mother and women’s rights in early times fascinates me.  I wanted to create strong female characters and endow them with strength and compassion, combined with a massive sense of justice.  The witches add the magic, but magic will not overwhelm the heroine’s human nature.

7)  How many books do you have planned for this series and when can we expect the second book to be released?

Lee:  There will be three books in the Earth Witches Series.

8)  What are some of the things we can expect as the series progresses?

Lee:  Each book, while set in the same world, the imaginary city of Duivel, Missouri, will be slightly different.  They will carry over some of the characters from the first book, but each heroine will have a different mission.

9)  What's next for Lee Roland?  What do you have planned in the upcoming months?

Lee:  Finish the edits on the second book, Vengeance Moon, and begin work on the third and untitled book in the series.

10)  Is there anything specific you would like to say to your readers?

Lee:  Please, if you have comments or questions, my website has place for them.  I’ll answer as many as possible.  Tell me what you liked or didn’t like about Viper Moon.

Thank you so much Lee for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and talk to us.  We hope to have you on Book Monster and LITERAL ADDICTION again in the future.
Lee:  I look forward to talking you again.

I really like the cover for Viper Moon :) To never give up and to always believe should definitely be up there as mantras for writers to live by. I'm glad you didn't give up and can now accomplish your dream of being a full-time writer.
